My 2nd place winning deck at the Dream Wizards Store Championship in Rockville, MD. Its nearly the exact deck I took to Red Saturday but with Jhiqui, Desmera Redwyne, and 2 Consuming Flames added. They replaced a second Irri, a Lord Renly's Ride, a bodyguard and a Drac. I did not miss the Bodyguard on the day, but I need Irri much more than Jhiqui in the deck and Renly's Ride generally had more impact when I drew it than having another low cost lady to repopulate the board with and to collect power from the Knights of the Reach on.
Observations: First Snow fucks this deck hard in every orifice it has. Its making a comeback at least locally as a plot with Valar D pushing cost curves smaller. It just wrecks the tempo and board control this deck can build.
Consuming Flames is nice for those times I don't get my dragons. In the times I have my dragons, I want Drac over Flames every time. This deck is nearly past the critical mass of draw to discard where I run out and start top decking around turn 5-7 depending on the game.
Jhiqui is hard to use unless its really a "last power for the win" play. I just can't dump the cards for temporary renown power over long term board state very often. I only used her once...and in that case to force a reset (dumping a dupe of an already played location in a game I was pretty sure I would not see location control).
Varys' Riddle was a new addition to the plot line in place of Conf this time. Only once all day did I miss Conf and I only once made a bad call with Riddle that backfired on me (Ran into Marched in the finals with it and should have known it was coming.) Rattleshirts Raiders did solid attachment control work and Viserys did just enough when you can play, march, then FB him to get 2 attachments off over 2 turns.
HoT Marge is great and makes so much happen for this build...I needed more burn to capitalize on her even better.
Valar D against Valar M is fun...just put all your uniques on the bottom of your deck before they would die. Did that 3 times on the day.
