SKAHAZADHAN TIME

with this deck you have:

  • location control (2x seized)
  • attachment control (3x viserys)
  • character control (2x milk and lots of burn + crown)
  • event control (3x hj)
  • discardpile control (2x isle)
  • good amount of gold (skaha)
  • and lots of draw to definitely see your cards/answers!

some insight & how to play:

with skahazadhan you have +3g each summerround and in combination with kingsroad/latesummer feast you can establish board control realy fast. oftentimes i wanna force a valar to just bring back dany with ghosts of harrenhal. the only aim youre working towards to is having dany out with a few slave events and enough gold to abuse them. in this situation you probably won already. to get yourself into this position, you have a lot of draw from 2x exchange, counting, plenty, 3x dragons tail, 1x littlefinger, 2xshadowblack lane

generally you wanna rush your opponents down because its hard to keep up with you with all the drawplots + gold you have from skaha. this is plan A so try to pressure and get as much power as possible, often times you win after a few plots because u generated too much power or burned and killed everyone and they concede. if plan A fails, it doesnt matter because it wasnt your real plan. its time for the real deal: dany out with a few slave events - you reached your final form

you should also always try to go second. its easier to control the board as second player, you can time your dragons tail better and can use your characters to full efficiency because u dont need to hold back on some for defending or being able to dracarys. you can just react to enemy decision and punish for mistakes better. also you have dracarys threat which leads to opponent just skipping challenges or risking getting burned. so this is a really good position to be in.

plotline:

i tried to get the maximum amount of draw paired with summer plots for skahazadhan

  • time of plenty - 9g 1draw
  • 2x exchange of information - 6g potential of 4draw
  • late summer feast - 12g <--- this is the only plot im not 100% satisfied with (0 initiative) but i didn't find a good fit here yet. i use it as a opener when i have littlefinger in hand and/or dany
  • counting coppers - more draw
  • valar m - your reset
  • ghosts of harrenhal - no sorry you wont get rid of her

closecall would actually fit way better in this deck with 8g 1draw - but i value the initiative(i hate 0 initiative) and the effect from ghosts of harrenhal more. its just too strong to have 100% uptime on dany once shes in play

characters:

pretty cheap but effective ones. every character costs you max 3g, except for dany/littlefinger (5g) - you have latesummerfeast/kingsroad for them tho. missandei is awesome with skaha, littlefinger is a well needed and good power icon with my beloved effect of drawing cards. i'd love to include khal drogo x1 somehow

attachments:

  • 1x crown - normally i don't play with 1x cards because i think you cant build a strategy around them since its too random to see them. but with exchange of information you can fetch it
  • 2x milk of poppy - my nightmares alternative - takes care of mace, pyrodany, bran, arianne and other annoying stuff. one of the best additions recently
  • 2x seized - location control, bestowing 1g on it is often enough since this deck plays a lot faster than my old one. blanking out a location for 2rounds can be enough to get the game completely in your hands. prioritize isle of raven!

locations:

so you have your eco package of:

  • 3x roseroad - just easy to play eco, good in setup
  • 2x slavers - bad to draw on setup, but realy effective later in the game
  • 3x kingsroad - ive noticed that 1 of the problems of my deck was to bring out my characters. but once theyre in play, they tend to stay because of the amount of dupes. also it complements the tempoboost of skaha and since youre 4g behind on turn1 just by choosing this agenda, kings road helps to jump ahead again. i like the initiative on it too

and your "support" locations

  • 2x flea - to dominate board/bring in a mil soak/discarding attachments with viserys/shuffling characters back into your deck
  • 2x isle - to take care of flea, princes plan, etc - enemy discardpile in general. also you can shuffle your events back into your deck to use them with shadowblack lane - or shuffle crown back into your deck to search for it with another exchange of information - or to keep your own discard pile empty of characters vs nw who wants to marshall them from there. as you can see it has a lot of uses and is mandatory in this meta imo
  • 2x shadowblack lane - primarly used to get your slave event when you have dany out. also its used to recycle your fire&blood with isle of ravens to get your characters back to life after valar which is pretty important with such a low character base.

events:

  • definitly 2x fire&blood because 1 just isnt enough
  • whole burn package
  • 3x dragons tail because draw wins you the game. try to use when enemy has full reserve. dont use when enemy has almost no hand, only in emergency cases, e.g.: you need milk RIGHT NOW or something else
  • 3x hj because its needed for a lot of stuff, im just gonna quote myself here:

"the main reason i included hj was to counter dorans game. ive thought alot about the martell matchup and what makes them win:

dorans game & and the immense strength buff by princes plan (unburnable)

with hj you can counter their wincondition dorans game easily (or counter princes plan and then shuffle it back into their deck with isle). also its great to counter nightmares or opponents hj or any other annoying events which will fuck up the plan you have in head for this round.

also helpful vs any other faction: gj-> risen, bara->seen in flames, nw->recruiting/discarding your guys (mutiny) etc etc"

why i play this agenda over wtc:

since i cant get enough of draw, i was thinking of how i could get even more. so i had the idea of playing with 7plots to be able to reset faster and play my draw plots again. also i already noticed that the weakest part of my old deck was the beginning - while i was getting a lot of cards, i had to struggle my way through with low income.

while it was nice to have 10 plots, i often felt like not ABSOLUTELY needing all 10 plots. in the wtc version i always ended up in long games, where it was normal to play 7+plots. but the last few plots oftentimes didn't had that much impact while i was waiting for my plots to reset so that i would be able to play my draw plots again. so i was stronger in the first half of my plot deck, getting weaker in the second half because of not having any draw left - and targ empties their hand really fast. only thing i miss is the option of having twice the 2x of plots, but this is balanced out by being able to reset your plot deck - if the game ever goes so long, you'll definitely have the upper hand just by cycling through your plots again. so i tried to crystallize out the most important plots and was looking for a fitting agenda.

i tried out fealty/summer to have a smoother start into the game, rains and other stuff but didn't like either of them. summer was too useless, fealty&rains needed a faction card kneel which is already in use by shadowblack lane. so i thought about the red door agenda with skaha, since i already noticed how massive it was when i drew it on setup in the wtc version.

et voila - skahazadhan time was created

games are also way faster now - before i was trying to play the long game, trying to have answers for everything and it would have worked really well if it wasnt for a faction who excels even more in that - martell. so i had to dismiss this concept.

closing words:

so after 4 full days of playtesting (~30 games) i only lost two games. one of them because i did a math mistake and another one vs a tyrell who nightmared me 2 rounds, intimidated me in both rounds with lord renlys ride+randyll and played the king in the north plot afterwards - leaving me unable to do anything. too bad i didnt draw any of my hj, which would have been game changing. maybe i could have got control back if i valard earlier tho.

im still looking for a deck to struggle against but didnt find one yet. im even winning vs martell consistently! been such a struggle to get to this point. so far i couldnt think of any improvements to the deck, been trying out to swap late summer feast with pentoshi (more initiative, also good to open time of plenty vs martells dorans behest, then playing pentoshi into their riddle) since goldwise its the same, but im not sure which is better. maybe even a complete different plot here? varys riddle for example. ive also been thinking about swapping valar m with valar d, since i usually get 4 guys into the dead pile easily with all the burn, aside from that im not that dependent on the 2x slavers - im also thinking if its ok to cut milk&seized to 1x (since i can fetch them anyway), which would open 2 slots, but idk. im impressed by how well the deck does and didnt expect such a insanely good result!

recently i got told that my old pyrodany deck made it to 4th place in a regionals in italy - and im more than convinced that this version right now is way more brutal

there you go

tell me how it went!

Given you have The Skahazadhan, I think you should run Summer Harvest and Calm Over Westeros instead of Late Summer Feast and Time of Plenty.

Also, The Dragon's Tail is really a bad card: it's +1 card advantage for you and +2 for your opponent. I'd rather run 2x Funeral Pyre (yes, it conflicts with Shadowblack Lane, but it's a very good deal for that turn) and an additional Littlefinger, given you'll generally have the money to play him.

thanks for your input zack! i dont agree with summer harvest, because its not a reliable high gold card. i only need a highgold plot once, and thats for dany/littlefinger. and if i plan to play them and flip summer harvest into counting or something similar, thats not gonna work for me.

ive also thought about calm over westeros instead of late summer feast but didnt try it yet. i'd also never consider dropping time of plenty. atm im playing time of plenty as my reliable highgold plot to bring out dany/littlefinger. latesummerfeast was to bring out both, but i dont think thats neccessary, especially with littlefinger x1 it doesnt happen often to have both on turn1. so im still left with a unsatisfied latesummerfeast, which will probably get swapped with varys riddle, calm or something else. and since i only need 1 reliable gold plot, im not too convinced about calm - it would be a second high gold plot (8g) which isnt needed. i need ffg to print new plots haha - but so far, it looks like its the best option with riddle, not having to care about int or mil is helpful but doesnt fit my plan of draw so idk

littlefinger x2 could be a thing, but im not sure what im going to do with the second draw when i dont have an option to remove littlefinger from play? sounds like a deaddraw. ive tried the ironbank event, but thats a faction card kneel too.

i know the general consent about the dragons tail. on paper it definitely looks bad. maybe it is bad. but ive been playing with it a long time and still like it a lot - imo, i have more profit from draw than my opponent - especially when i am the one to decide when to trigger it. so if you hit opponents reserve with it, there is no card advantage (but, yeah, they can filter their hand)

it basically reduces my deck from 60 cards to 54 cards, kinda compressing it even more. also it has no restriction to use, funeral is sometimes hard to trigger(martell for example doesnt play many lords/ladys) or gets you in an awkward spot where you have to discard some cards afterwards and not being able to trigger shadowblack lane for a well needed fire&blood or burn event. also dragons tail doesnt sit in hand and takes slots of your reserve unlike funeral where you have to keep it until you are finally able to use it.

i see your point tho!

inahgiam 118

sorry, it reduces enemy deck to 54cards (but if they have to discard its ok) it compresses my own deck to 60-3=57cards , then 3*2draw => 57-6=51cards

this way im faster getting to my important cards

To be clear: i was suggesting Calm instead of Late, for reliability.

Summer Harvest in the current meta could be a good opener against many deck, but the same can be said of Riddle. In general. But with The Skahazadhan things chances a bit. Riddle is not Summer traited which makes a gold difference in your deck. Assuming your opponent plays at least a 2 gold plot in almost every turn (which is a fairly safe assumption, in my opinion), Summer Harvest will give you 7+ gold on any turn (and much more if you can ping opponent high-gold plot), while Riddle will always give you 7 golds.

inahgiam 118

thats true. riddle could be a another draw plot tho (which can also backfire, double valar)

and summer harvest can run into a riddle, especially vs martell

i think calm would be the safest choice

Hi @inahgiam, I was wondering if you still play this deck & maybe developed it further? Have you found a deck to struggle against yet? Which new cards are interesting for you?
