Joe, what is your strategy for Greyjoy? I seem to have the most difficulty with this match up with the stealth and the removal, not to mention defending Balon Greyjoy. I feel like if I don’t get Benjen Stark early I get destroyed.

Basically you have one faction who wants all of there challenges unopposed and against a faction who needs to oppose every challenge. It feels more often that not that Greyjoy is the unstoppable force, and I am the very movable object.

I feel as if the plot deck could use some tweaking for the Greyjoy matchup. I’d probably take out A Feast for Crows since opposing every challenge is more important than keeping people standing for dominance. Even with the Iron Throne, using Feast seems a little too greedy.

In its place I’d probably put in A Game of Thrones. I’ve had fairly good success with it against Greyjoy since they don’t have the best intrigue suite. Even when bannered with something that supports that, it could take them a good amount of time to draw into it.

@NecroMerlinWell, you have Will and Arya, both of whom have stealth. So, if you feel you aren’t getting your stealth often enough, you can increase Will to 2x. Also, another strategy is to just make sure your icon coverage is good. For example, if they have Asha and Theon out, you can have Waymar, Tumblestone, a Ranging Party and Sansa and be able to oppose all three challenges, regardless of stealth. Little birded stealth can be a bit annoying, but your reducers are also intrigue, as are Will, Sam and Littlefinger.

Obviously, Balon is a problem, and there aren’t going to be many ways to stop him. However, if you have Castle Black and a Ranging Party, you will be able to oppose him and not be reduced to zero. Also, Filthy Accusations can kneel him. Fortified Position can remove his effect for a turn. You can milk him, obviously. There are ways around him.

@The Once and Future JakeFeast for Crows is more to maintain your consistent power creep before you get the Wall out. It is a great economy plot as well and, with the Wall and Iron Throne, can net you 5 power in one turn without winning a single challenge. I don’t view it as greedy, especially since it is often times my strongest turn in each game. I’ve never had a problem opposing each challenge and still winning dominance, unless they have the Iron Throne out as well.

Game of Thrones is nice against a small group of the factions, Greyjoy and Stark mainly, but is basically a dead plot against Lannister, Martell, Targaryen and Baratheon. In most cases, they will be able to win an intrigue challenge against the likes of your reducers, Sam, Sansa, Littlefinger and Will.
