Winner - Imaginaire (Quebec) SC Feb 2016 - Lanni/Sun | 16 | 11 | 2 | 1.0 |
cml 128
If you have board position early, destroy the hand while playing plots to stall out military challenges. If you do not, Varys early while continuing to attack the hand. As with most Lannister, Tywin is your most important card, but Nymeria is a reasonably close second - the control and challenge opportunities she opens up are phenomenal.
Went 4-0 in Swiss with this at a 23 person SC in Manchester, CT (which put me second, thanks to the new FFG recommended round structure). During Swiss, I had wins over Stark Fealty, Targaryen Banner of the Lion, Greyjoy Banner of the Lion and Targaryen Banner of the Rose. Lost in the cut in a rematch with the same Targaryen Rose deck.

How well this deck go against Lanni/Rose, which seems to be everywhere and currently, i dare to say the best deck in the meta |
I didn’t include Ser Jaime Lannister because I wanted to keep my cost curve lower, and he and Syrio basically occupied the same spot. Given the way the games played out, I’m more worried about stealth than I am about slow power gain, so I’m inclined to leave that piece as is, but you could try swapping Jaime in. |
Still thinking about any changes I would make. The events were all super useful, so I’m tempted to go to a third The Things I Do For Love or a third The Hand’s Judgment. Once again, though, I am concerned about setups. I’m not entirely sold on the second copy of Grand Maester Pycelle either. I wanted to supplement my own draw to try and take advantage of emptying my opponent’s hand, but in practice I found I often did not want to play him when I drew him. I’ll test more, but one copy of him may turn into a third House Dayne Knight, Bastard Daughter or Brothel Madame. |

How did you play TRtW in this tournament? Pack wasn’t out this week in the UK. |
|
Aha, Fake Manchester! :) |
How was Supporting the Faith with Brothel Madame? The combo is cute. Thinking about replacing it with a high gold plot (Trading with the Pentoshi or Calling the Banners). And what location is the more important one in this deck? Thanks! |
I can see an argument for Trading with the Pentoshi - I don't like the plot at all, but this kind of deck is probably the one best able to leverage it right now. Calling the Banners is probably creating similar or one more income than Supporting, and I value the effect more. Most of my plots are higher gold, as well, so I always felt like I had an economic advantage there. Hard to say which the more important location is. I guess if forced to I'd say Casterly Rock. The extra challenge is great for possible unopposed and additional damage to the hand, and at 2 gold it's a little easier to play than Lannisport. |
I think I will give Calling the Banners a try because of the high initiative. Our other plots are really low aside from Marched to the Wall and we can't always play it for the initiative. Was that a problem for you? |

For me Pycelle became a Bastard Daughter, I feel the interrupt is more valuable then the intrigue icon from House Dayne Knight as we have so many already. |
Looks like really solid and smart, but why not go further and add a 2nd Supporting and/or Game of Thrones. I know plots slots are few though. I think i'll either try to add a 3rd Widows for it is an incredible card for setup and Targ matchups. Is 'things I do' always doing the job for you? |

@cml After some testing, I came back to almost exactly your list. It is quite solid and polished. Changes are - 1 Pycelle +1 Bastard Daughter and -1 Supporting the Faith +1 Calling the Banners (or Calling the Varys as my playgroup calls it). Leaving for Quebec today for tomorrow's SC, I will probably write a report afterwards. |

Lannisport is quite costly at 3 but is our only card draw. |

Ahhhhhhh lol |

And here it is: thronesdb.com |
Did you find the single copy of Syrio Forel useful? If so was it for preventing your opponent from stealthing you or was it offensive? Did you miss Ser Jaime Lannister at all, even as a 1 of? Since your bannering Martell did you test Palace Spearman at all? Lastly were there any changes you would make to this deck.
Sorry for all the questions, I’ve been playing a similar deck (without the newest chapter pack) and wad wondering about your experiences with it.
