Hi All, I haven't posted in a while ...

As you know, I created "The Great Builders" deck at the start of AGoT 2.0, so you can understand that I have some affinity for decks with a lot of Buildings and synergy in them ... with No Middle Ground (and Gendry + Tobho Mott's Armory ) I decided to give it a try again. Brought it to a weekly meet up and it felt really smooth.

So I decided to bring it to a 12 player tournament on Saturday. I learned 1h prior start that Wolves of the North will be legal for the event, so I slotted some cards that I felt would improve the deck.

With the list you see I placed 2nd after 4 rounds of Swiss and 3rd overall.

Here is a brief tournament report:

Round 1 v.s. Bara Fealty ( Modified Loss )

I started against the only other Bara player in the entire tournament. He setup Iron Throne, while I setup Gendry. However, I managed to fetch mine with Building Orders on turn 1. Both of us got fat Bob on Turn 1. It was a very tough mirror, ultimately he hit all of his Fiery Followers, while I didn't mine and the only turn in which our Robberts weren't kneeling via Filthy Accusations, he manage to kneel mine with Mel and Fiery Followers. I also had my Mel, but she was Milked. That one round gave him the difference in our power, as we timed later on.

From what I saw the differences in our decks were that I was playing Ours is the Fury , Tourney Grounds , Wildling Scout , King's Hunting Party ( who u better believe was a bi-icon 4/6 in a dominance fight :D ) and The King's Peace.

He was also playing In the Name of Your King!.The player end up coming 4th out of Swiss, but won the tournament in the eliminations.

Round 2 v.s. Lannister LotC ( Win )

He had a 3 chud setup and some economy. Managed to drop Tywin on turn 1. However, mine was even better. I setup Rob and a chud. Also managed to draw out everything - Keep, Mel and Stannis. Managed to lock the entire board and kneel his Tywin ( even though he put Seal of the Hand at one point). It was a blow-out win.

Round 3 v.s. Tyrell Banner of the Sun ( Modified Win )

It was a good game. Both of us managed to draw out key characters and location ( Throne and Redkeep on my side and High Garden and Arbor on his ). Only thing we were missing was Mel on my side and Nymeria on his. There was a lot of challenge math in this game ( especially with Challenge and Icon removal from his side), but I was floating a bit ahead thanks to Throne + Chamber of the Painted Table combo. If my Gendry didn't die to a Tears of Lys, I could have probably secured a clear win. Opponent also used The Long Winter to discard his only power on the card to prevent me from claiming anything on a POW challenge in our last round. As it was - we timed with 14 power on my side.

Round 4 v.s. Lannister LotC - Leaping Lions edition ( Win )

It was pretty interesting game. A lot of Leaping from Ser Gregor Clegane and his brother The Hound. Ultimately I managed to put him in a Lose - lose situation ( win - win for me :) ) where if he didn't attacked me I'd win on dominance. If he attacked me to kneel my characters, I had Ours is the Fury to win immediately with Renown on Robert Baratheon.

Top 4 Cut ( 1st Tyrell LotC, 2nd Bara Fealty (me), 3rd Stark Fealty and 4th Bara Fealty) Semi-final v.s. Stark Fealty ( Loss )

Was playing against the most veteran Stark player in our group. The expansion had just hit our playgroup, so I spent most of the time reading all the new cards in his deck. I started strong ( with Gendry, Throne and Table ) and was pulling ahead. However, as he dropped a bomb after bomb ( new Eddard, King Robb's Host, 2 out of his 3 Winter Is Coming)) and I simply couldn't draw mine ( no Robbert, no Stannis ) - after a 3 MIL claim swipe my board was empty and GG.

Key outtakes:

Ours is the Fury is a very strong card and my MVP for the tournament.

Lack of Confiscation in my plot deck really hurt me in 2 games. Actually I thought that I have it, but as I checked my plots in my first game I started face palming. :)

The King's Peace was not as impactfull as I'd like. It was an alright plot in games that I was winning and it didn't pull me back in games that I was losing. So to me, for now, it's more of a " win more card" , rather than " help me comeback ".

Wildling Scout did nothing for me in 5 games. I'm sure they could be great against Greyjoy, but I'd hesitate to use my neutral slots on them in a Fealty build.

Shadowblack Lane is half bad, half good. It can definitely be important in such event focus deck, but it has some anti-synergy with Fealty.

In the Name of Your King! is a very interesting card. I had it in my sideboard for testing, but it never really went into my deck. I was feeling pretty safe on MIL until I went in the Semi-Final against the Stark deck. King Robb's Host and Stealth characters were just bashing me and it could have made a big impact there.

Overall, I feel this deck is very strong and considering the dominance of Lannister, it can get you really far. Good Stark players can be difficult ( Robb Stark and Grey Wind board standing is devastating ), but with a decent draw you have a fair chance I'd say. Hopefully many of them will experiment with the new cards and won't be playing that standing build too much.

Thanks for reading and good luck!

Cheers, Dydra

Sojourne 1

Tourney grounds any good? 2 slots seems expensive in theory.

@Sojourne yes, I'll totally slot 2 of them for any deck that has 8+ events. Also, if you note, I have zero 0 cost events and that makes the difference.

Only downside is that it uses up your Action trigger, so if you don't use them proactive ( "new" players like me don't have the habit ) it can lead to some interesting situations - i.e. in my mirror match both me and my opponent had Seen In Flames in hand, I was first player, so if I wanted to reduce with Tourney Grounds he would have cast his and take mine out of hand. So I had to use gold, to discard his. :)
