Hi everyone, people of this wonderful card game! I've never published a deck before because I usually suck in every tournament. So, I left my heart with Dragons and started playing Octopuses as I was tired of being unable to pass in each challenge because Targ is just really difficult to play in order to achieve something. I mean, I love Targ and the way it plays, I love burning people with Dracarys, electing as a King Catelyn Stark and Melisandre and have always played it, but I needed to start playing something different, funny and a little more brainless. So I put together in an hour (the night before the first Trident i went to) a deck that is very similar to this one I publish, which is the ultimate version and I think it is a very solid deck, with many different threats and a very good board control. Most of all, it is funny as hell and you don't need to play those poppies that are becoming reeeeeeeally boring. Also, you are already set against Valar...everyone is playing Valar right now and I was thinking of adding it too, but Wildfire is way more efficient for how this deck plays. This deck gave me 1st place in 2 Battles of the Trident (22 and 14 players) and went 4-1 / 3rd in Swiss in a 26 players Trident, where I had to drop before the Top as I had to leave for a rendez-vous.

The plots.

A noble cause because you have 14 lords, 'nuff said. Marched to the wall is my favourite plot in the game, it was in 1.0 with Dry season when I played Dothraki, it is right now in 2.0. It has high initiative, it consolidates your board control. Best plot ever, just don't use it first turn, never, you can do it only if you see a Tywin with a duplicate, in any other case DON'T USE IT FIRST TURN. Snowed under lets you surely go first when you are behind with powers and it is a Winter so if you see a Winterfell (and have not already pillaged/destroyed it) you can use your Throne, your Longships and your cool characters reactions without giving a shit. Another cool Winter plot is Winter festival, it's 5 gold and nets you 2 powers without doing anything. Use it before Rise of the Kraken and you will have those two little powers more before closing the game. Rise of the kraken is the best loyal plot together with Wardens of the north, playing it is a blast and you never know when it's coming. Never play it when is your opponent is expecting it, unless you are sure to close the game. Wildfire is high initiative and is the reset you actually need. Let them flood the board, wait for them to have 2-3 cards in hand, then hit with Wildfire and watch them playing a Copper the turn after trying to make some board again while you get unopposed challenges or make them defend and do nothing an entire turn. Calling the banners is there because of high initiative and is usually a 5-6 gold plot, also lets you have gold before your income in case you go second player to use your Nightmares on Kingsroads or Tywins to slow them down. It was a Varys riddle in the first version of the deck, but Riddle is a risky plot, you just need gold and initiative. No Confiscation, because you have many strong characters and you can threaten your opponent in many different ways, also you have two Rattleshirt and 3 We do not sow. You don't need Confiscation.

The characters.

Not much to say here. All Greyjoy big guys are a pain in the ass for your opponent. Euron is your MVP, he is the best three-icons in the game with Tywin: he fixes your economy, lets you pillage crazy locations like Winterfell, Ghaston Grey, Red Keep, Plaza of punishment, Iron mines, he has renown and he's strength 6...I'd play 6 if I could. Victarion is a wonderful addition to the family, Intimidate is great in Greyjoy and he works very well with Asha, the Iron Fleets, Pyke and the Wildling scout. Balon is a nasty old man, give him a Throne and start worrying about who will die this turn. The reader and Littlefinger are there for some draw, you don't need much of it (you usualy close the game on the 4th or 5th plot) but you definitely need those 2-3 cards to pull the strings and keep up the pressure. Lordsport shipwrights are AWESOME, they kneel Kingsroads to slow their game, they kneel Ghaston Greys, other ships in mirror matches. Second MVPs of the deck. Just one Theon, you know, Ward is coming. Two Raiders because you don't play Confiscation and We do not sow is not enough, two Scouts beacause one more Stealth when you need it is really good. Aeron and Wendamyr, good ol'boys, cheap and strong. Aeron is something to keep in mind for your opponent when someone of yours dies and Wendamyr has Stealth. You don't count on them, but you'll never be sad to see them on the field. The new Aeron is very cool and could be the answer against Baratheon, which this deck really suffers, but you need to build a totally different deck with old Wyk and Drowned GOds, but you don't have many choices at the moment. Priests and Drowned men are ok guys and already work well as non uniques.

The locations.

Just one Roseroad? Yes, because it is a dead card if you don't setup it. The real economy is given by your plots and the Kingsroads, and you usually prefer to draw a Sea tower instead of something that will give you one gold next plot. There were 2 Roseroads before, but now you have a non-limited Solar, which is way better, even for setups. Scouts and Longships are great, you see Starks moving their Ladies just to defend; the two of them work very well with The Chair, which is always a terrible threat and forces to defend when they can if they don't want to lose their important character. Iron mines coupled with Risen from the sea are mandatory, other card I'd play in 6 copies if I could. Pyke is stronger than Longships, but it is unique, so just one copy. Consider it as the 3rd Longship. Great Kraken is great, as the name says, but it is unique and costs 3, it's a good draw engine but it really shines only if you have Balon, and you don't always have him. One copy is ok. Depending on the abundance of Bodyguards we will see in the new meta with Valar, the Longships could become the second Pyke and the second Great Kraken.

The events.

Just the ones you need. We do not sow is mandatory, as I said before; Nightmares is really versatile against everything and is way better than poppies if you play aggressive. Risen is awesome and saves you games more than characters.

You don't need boring attachments.

Try it, play it, enjoy it.

I have witnessed this deck bully the local meta for a month, it was about time to reveal it to the masses! ;)

I can't belive how did you pay your characters with only one: The Roseroad.... but I can saw your deck in action, and now I pray the drowned god... XD

I love the deck. Have you tried Battle of Oxcross ? It makes unopposed challenges easier to make and is bonkers good combined with Balon Greyjoy (Core).

@Robs Battle of Oxcross and Weapons at the door are good plots for a Greyjoy deck, but they're just 3 gold and you count on your plots for money. So yes, with some changes in the economy the Winter festival could leave place to one of the two, but I'd probably choose Weapons instead of Oxcross. Actually you really don't have any problem passing in challenges, instead if you get Cravened, Imprisoned, Warded, etc. you can get pissed off.

This is probably the sleekest Greyjoy deck I've seen, nicely done!

I agree Oxcross is a really strong plot to play after wildfire or marched. They have like 3 powerful dudes left on table and you can just bone one of them stratight up with seastone chair, stealth pass the other 2 and then follow up next turn with rise or marched while they struggle to get chumps back on the board.

How about replace Winterfell Festival with Clash with Kings? It gives more power bonus and has initiative of 9.
