This is the deck that I piloted to 6th place at Springfield, MO 1st Player Championship!

Deck Design

This deck is an adaptive aggressive/control deck utilizing the stealth package and the kneel package. At the top end of both spectrum's are Robert Baratheon and Victarion Greyjoy, both having the keyword Intimidate. The idea is to maneuver to a position where you can use stealth to force through Victarion or Robert and kneel an additional character. The deck also utilizes the new Ser Davos Seaworth (GoH) and Marya Seaworth to additionally kneel characters bypassed with stealth. Everything else fits into the utility or economy categories.

All of the decks key characters are 4 Str and above, while all of the 3 Str and below have useful "after you marshall ..." effects so the The First Snow of Winter plot was the reset of choice and typically marks the tipping point between the defensive setup to the offensive push. At that point, there should be very few characters left on the table and you can stealth by and intimidate the rest down.

MVP Cards 1) Victarion Greyjoy 2) Melisandre (Core) 3) In the Name of Your King!

Victarion and Melisandre need little discussion. In the Name of Your King! on the other hand lets you overextend into the challenges as 1st player and then surprise your opponent when they counter attack. I purposefully left myself open to a Ser Gregor Clegane, Eddard Stark (WotN), and Ser Jaime Lannister (Core) (follow-up was to be All Men Are Fools) and I just demolished the whole plan.

Economy

Between needing gold to 1) play characters 2) play events and finally 3) use with Marya and Selyse, the deck runs pretty tight on economy. There are a decent number of unique characters with several above 6 Str so Great Hall made sense and was a blessing whenever I saw it. The deck plays 4 Kingdom plots which leads to the The Stone Drum. You might notice the oddball Taxation plot. Naturally you want to use it when you can drop two limited's, so it usually is played after the Counting Coppers. Additionally the 6 initiative makes it useful in the mid game before the The First Snow of Winter turn.

Tourney Report

R1 vs Dakota (Springfield) Greyjoy/Lion - W -A turn 2 Valar is difficult to deal with, but somehow I creep back into the game. I did not have my customary notebook with me so my tourney notes are extremely brief.

R2 vs Will L (Springfield) Tyrell/Alliance/Wolf/Lion - W -In the Name of Your King! did work this game. I over extended into Gregor, Eddard, and Jaime and was able to cancel his counter .

R3 vs Kaleb (Springfield) Lannister/Stag - W -I was aware of a particular deck tech (Naval Superiority) that hosed 5 of my 7 plots. That aside, Kaleb unfortunately drew extremely poorly and I was able to win out.

R4 vs Josh Braun (Springfield) Greyjoy/Watch - L -Josh used Valar Morghulis on turn 2 saving both Asha and Balon. The rest was down hill as Great Kraken gave him at least 4 or even 5 free power. Couldn't recover.

R5 vs Kyle - Lannister/Rains - W -I have not played against this deck, but was familiar with the concept. Triplicate Tywin Lannister (Core) is hard to deal with, but I was able to read the Valar Morghulis turn and used Confiscation to drop a bodyguard off of Jaime. Cersei and Jaime died and somehow I slogged my way back into the game despite losing Ser Davos Seaworth (GoH), Melisandre (Core), and Victarion Greyjoy. Robert Baratheon was holding it down.

Finish Swiss in 2nd.

Rematch vs Kaleb - Lannister/Stag - L

Kaleb has a much better draw this time and an early Without His Beard strips my Melisandre (Core) and Victarion Greyjoy early. I am unable to draw impactful characters and eventually bleed out to Cersei Lannister (LoCR).

Finish the day as 6th out of 18 players. Mad props to my metamate Kaleb for an outstanding showing at both the Joust and Melee event. Couldn't be more proud of you.
