Thanks for the update. I am struggling to find a use for Noble Cause, it always seems to be the last one I use. What about a Feast for Crows in place?

@jaypeedayleeI have gotten a little bit of push back on Noble Cause from other people testing the deck as well. I personally love the card because it acts as a 7 gold plot when you have Littlefinger, Arya, Sansa or Bran in hand. There are currently no 7 gold plots and it can frustrating having a combination of 2 and 3 gold characters that you want to get out to defend the Wall, but are 1 gold short. NW doesn’t have any reducing locations, so I put that 7th gold at a premium.

However, you’re right that is conditional and you may not use it some games if you don’t see any of the 10 lords/ladies or they come during turns that you have something more pressing to do, like kneel out a Balon or remove a milk from Benjen etc.

Naval superiority is also increasing in popularity due to Sams’ worlds winning deck running it, so Noble Cause may be a relic that needs to be removed.

As for what to replace it, I am torn. Feast for Crows is good, but that 4 reserve can be painful. And if they still win dominance, it feels like a wasted plot. The deck is already plenty fast with Sansa, Benjen and the Wall that I don’t feel it necessary to add Feast for Crows.

For me, it comes down to either Marched to the Wall or Fortified Position. Marched to the Wall is great because one of the weaknesses of the deck is Varys, also becoming more popular since Worlds. In the case where your board is wiped and they get to keep only one character, Marched can help you even the playing field after Varys ruins your defenses, Plus, it likely gives you initiative, which allows you to react to what your opponent plays, and defend the Wall accordingly.

Also, Fortified Position is a good one because Balon Greyjoy, as well as stealth and kneel, are a few other weaknesses to defending the Wall, and FP can really facilitate a free Wall proc for the turn that you really need it.

Ultimately, it’s up to you what you replace it with. You have 3 really good options. I am still kind of in denial about it because Noble Cause has done so much work for me, but I definitely understand your point of view. Let me know what you decide to do and how it worked out for you, as I am consistently tweaking and adjusting this deck in preparation for tournament season, whenever that may be.

Do you think there is room or even use for slotting The Watch Has Need?

With The Iron Throne out you can search your top 7 cards as every plot in your plot deck has a reserve of 6.

Seems like a decent 1 cost event in this deck to help thin the deck/ build up your board.

I´m playing with a deck very similar to this, what do you think?: thronesdb.com

@NecroMerlinI personally don’t find the need for The Watch Has Need. If I was running a Fealty deck, I’d fit it in, but this deck only has 9 rangers, 7 stewards and 3 builders. So, if I played this card when I had 40 cards remaining in my deck, having seen, say, 3 rangers already, and with a reserve of 7 (assuming I get the Iron Throne out, as you said), I only have a 71% chance of seeing a ranger. On average, you’re looking at maybe 2 rangers on average. I’d rather just have that card be a character and cut out the variability.

As the game gets bigger and there are more targets, I think it will increase in value, but right now I don’t think there is much of a reason to use it.

@TanatosI still prefer 3x Sansa and Arya, just because they are so cost efficient and so strong, I want to see them in every game. At the same time, I understand why you want to even out your icon distribution. I consider Arya a bicon, because it is difficult for her to lose her dupe, unless they put her to the sword. So I’ve never felt like I was missing military icons.

Same with Benjen, I like him at 3x just because he is almost never a dead card and gives me power. So, even in death, he’s extremely useful to me.

Your plots are also a good change, in some cases. I have trouble with Feast for Crows because of the 4 reserve, but with Sam and the Iron Throne, that can be mitigated. I’ve grappled with that card as well, but ultimately, chose to exclude it for the likes of Calm Over Westeros, which is a very consistent opening plot, as well as a great plot when you’re coming into the last turn and you don’t want to lose any power from a power challenge.

What do you add back to your deck with rebuilding?

Let me know how Lady works, because I’ve been hesitant to put her in my deck. The stark restriction worries me, as my main concern is keeping my NW characters alive.

Overall, it looks like a very solid deck.

@habesjnyes i still prefer the 3 sansa and arya but after long testing i see that we are low on mil icons and its very difficult to defend the wall or maintain the strategy behind this deck when you are facing heavy mil decks such as targaryen, so with this changes i´ve tried to fill some spaces and even the icons but i dont know if its gonna work (still waiting for taking the black to come out in my country)…

About plots, i´ve changed some plots because after testing my old version i´ve realized that some of them were useless in my meta. I´ve choosed rebuilding just because in the past i´ve lost many intrigue chal and maybe its a way to see this cards again or when a We do not sow hits your wall or iron throne…i dont know if i will keep it or maybe i´ll put head on spikes instead (just because maybe i´m lucky and i can hit a character witch its 2 power more), i dont know…

I´m in the same worries about the stark restriction, on paper lady and Maestre luwin looks great but maybe theres not enough sinergy i dont know…

I played a Tyrell fealty deck the other day with this and got smoked! It really struggles with Intrigue challenges, especially once the Queen of Thorns got involved.

I think Fortified Position might be a plot worth looking in to for such situations to give yourself a little more time.

@TanatosI personally haven’t experienced the lack of military icons that you seem to have. In fact, counting Arya as a military icon, your deck and my deck each have 15 cards with effective military icons. Remember, the tracker on Thronesdb doesn’t count 3x of a unique as 3 icons, they just count it as 1 icon, so the numbers are a little deceptive.

I see you took out Filthy Accusations and Calm Over Westeros. I wouldn’t call them worthless, but I can see why you added Feast for Crows and Fortified Position. Both are very effective at getting the Wall off and gaining additonal power.

I think Noble Cause is coming out of my deck. It is just a 7 gold plot if I’m holding Bran, Littlefinger, Arya or Sansa, but I think I can get more value out of a fortified position or a Feast for Crows, so good call on that one.

I play 1x Luwin just so that, if I’m top decking, looking for characters, and need an intrigue icon or a power icon, I can use Here to serve to go grab him. I don’t particularly care about his text all that much. Primarily if Aemon was an early draw, so I didn’t need Here to Serve to go fetch him.

@jaypeedayleeThe Tyrell deck must have just gotten a really great start. Intrigue challenges aren’t so bad, as long as you can oppose them. There are certain factions that obviously love doing intrigue, so they’re going to burn your hand, but you can’t do much about that. You just have to outpace them, which, since Tyrell doesn’t really have any kneel, or stealth or anything to get unopposed challenges, you should be able to do relatively easily. Intrigue is definitely irritating, because it goes with Varys so well, but the Night’s Watch has the ravens and Samwell/Will to keep their hand size up. You just gotta weather the storm :).

I think Fortified Position is an outstanding idea. You can easily take Noble Cause out for it.
