Hey guys, i want to share the deck i brought at Milan fighting pits (Road to Staleck) since i strongly believe that through an active and mature community we can perfectionate our most played faction and...well Gj fellows, we raid we share XD

The tournament was amazing with 51 very solid players and the Khal himself was the TO ;)

So, why Castamere?

  • i want to express Gj potential without bannering with other factions because i always felt i was diluting and weaking my main faction. The choice came simply by exclusion: fealty i think is underpowered for Gj since they don't have that many fealty cards and the new limited location isn't really for me right now so i don't see a good gain from the sporadic reduction. Lord of the crossing that i used for a long time before Tyrell massive rush to power is inconsistent imho because you have to commit on a lot of lucky moments like Rise of the Kraken massive push or just the right draw in the right moment. Other rush faction like Tyrell or Stark can simply double the power gain defending or striking back your initial challenge push. Winter is not my cup of thea XD I like the main concept of control the board and the economy but from my previous test it's just so random most of the time.

Castamere makes your opponent play bad and focus on the least useful challenge you want to win! Yes, i don't care about agenda's activation most of the time, i want to win power challenges and optimize my renown gain. It has some pros and cons but in general you sacrifice unopposed and rush for a much more reliability.

This deck have been pretty solid against Targaryen thanks to location hate and the old good saves, Baratheon are still a nightmare but hey, at least you have a small chance to reset their board with Valar and wilddfire.

@scantrell24 Thanks :). Yeah, it's not just a simply joke, i put a single littlebird because i play 2 Newly made lord and sometimes it's handy to give them intrigue.

I m really surprised that you found no room for Great Kraken in this deck is there any particular reason why ? I would probably cut Syrio over it I think a Balon with an attachment that can do 3 challenges with Power Behind the Throne and Stealth seems to be more useful and you get the extra UO bonus so there is that too

@Ecth3lion i want to be honest i love great kraken but in this deck i wasn't planning to do a lot of unopposed so other than Balon i didn't expect to spend 3 gold (a lot for my plots choice) for it. I would fin a room for a single copy but i don't know if it dies really matter in the end. I still prefer cards that have a immediate impact as soon as possible and in any circumstaces.

Btw Syrio is amazing and saved my day against Nw; he's always an impactful card

I m surprised by this answer possibly because that is what i would expect after a Valar turn with Asha saved by Risen or a Balon hitting the board. Other than that what would be an ideal amount of gold to put on wex ? He feels too clunky for me and you are not really running any saves againist First snow. (Disclaimer: still not tested the deck)

@Ecth3lion yeah, i know but not every game i count on Valar for the massive push but i can see your logic. Trust me, it's hard to leave out great kraken but in the long term and with a heavy amount of aggro in my meta (Targ), 3 gold most of the times means a body. Wex is the 2nd salty navigator but with 2 icons; i don't like he's abilities but icon spread sometimes means flexibility.

First snow is not that bad with this deck. I was playing it in my previous version agains Targ and Nw but it wasn't necessary at the end.
