Rules FAQ

  • Castamere is not a claim replacement effect. It happens in addition to normal claim, similar to the original The Free Folk agenda.

  • Even if the claim value is 0, or if a claim replacement effect (such as Trial by Combat) is used, claim is still considered to have been applied. You can still trigger Castamere.

  • Modifiers that affect the claim value during challenges (such as Cersei Lannister (Core)) will apply to Castamere’s claim as well. Modifiers that work during challenges (such as Master of Ships) will not. For example, if the defending player has revealed Calm Over Westeros and named , Castamere’s ability will not be affected. But if the player named , both the normal claim and Castamere’s additional claim will be reduced by 1 during challenges.

  • A character that is killed due to Castamere’s ability is considered to have been killed for claim. Podrick Payne and Obella Sand can both be triggered. On the other hand, Rhaegal (MoD) and Mother's Men cannot, because the character is not considered to have been killed by a card effect. (Source.)

  • You cannot trigger cards like Mya Stone or The Hand's Tourney with Castamere’s ability, because claim isn’t being applied “for a challenge”. That applies only to the original claim. You also cannot trigger Trading With Qohor or Battle of the Trident as a reaction to Castamere’s ability.

  • If you have the Master of Whispers melee title, Castamere will still only affect the defending player, regardless of which and how many opponents you choose to resolve claim against.
