Rules FAQ
-
You cannot take control of a unique character if you already control a copy of that character, or if a copy of that character is in your dead pile. (See Unique Cards.)
-
If the character has a reaction to entering play or coming out of shadows, the order in which the abilities are triggered matters. The first player has the first opportunity to trigger a reaction. If the first player plays this event to take control of the character, that same player may then also use any reaction on the character itself (for instance, Ser Robert Strong). On the other hand, if the first player is the one bringing the character out of shadows, that player can trigger the reaction first before the event is played. The reaction can only be triggered once among all the players.
-
If this event is played to take control of a character, the original player may still trigger reactions such as The Hightower or The Black Cells, because the triggering condition for those cards still occurred.
-
You cannot trigger Bowen Marsh (TTS) after you play this event, but your opponent can.
-
This event has no printed cost, so you cannot play it from your hand. If another ability gives it shadow (X) where X is its printed cost while this event is in shadows (for instance, We Light the Way or Doran Martell (AHaH)), the value of X cannot be defined and defaults to 0. That means you would be able to play this event for 0 cost from shadows.
