I had a great time at Cleveland Regionals this weekend. Big thanks to Recess Gaming (Seriously, one of the nice and most modern stores I have ever seen), Brad Eier for hosting, James Booker for his great hospitality, and congrats to Chris Thompson for the win.

This deck is about board clearing and control. Lots of other Martell Wolf decks—I believe—focus too much on clearing (Ie. 3x Varys, Valar D, Valar M, etc.), but the problem then becomes, how do you win challenges and control the board? 3x Varys is too much. More than often, they sit in your hand. I wanted to make something that has a good balance of both.

Overall, I was very pleased with how this played. However, it is fairly crucial (Is that an oxymoron? “Fairly crucial”?) to get Flea Bottom early. It is not 100% necessary because you can still win and the deck has other tricks, but it does become increasingly more difficult.

I have to give a shoutout to CT’s masterful plays. During our final game, I opened Counting Coppers (Had to get Flea), he opens At Prince Doran’s Behest, then flipped Littlefinger’s Meddling, and used Someone Always Tells on my Counting Coppers. He was able to pull it off again on my Trade Routes. Those two plays were clutch.

All-in-all, I am very pleased with a 2nd place win! My first time getting to the finals!

Congrats on the tourney! How did the THJ, Arya and the VFE perform? I really like core Arya since its your pow icon. I came up to the same conclusion of 2 Varys is enough.

Didn't you win the initiative when you revealed your CC vs his Behest? Why didn't you make yourself first player in order to dictate the order of the plot execution? With him revealing Behest you should have been suspicious that he was up to no good.

@Serazu is right, You could (and should) avoid it. But no one makes no mistakes ;) Congrats on result.

@r480thank you so much :) Ok, THJ is clutch especially in a targ/martell/tyrell dominated meta. It works perfectly with The Water Gardens, so you essentially can play it for free. New Arya is one of the best cards for this deck. You can completely clear the board on a Valar M turn, which is key. Also, VFE is one of the best tricks, too.

@SerazuYes, true. I knew he was running Someone Always Tells, but didn’t know he was doing Littlefinger’s Meddling. Lesson learned for next time.

@Uncle Edmurethank you, sir!

@TrueSoklesthank you as well :) and yes we all do.
