Spent some of today trying out this thing. It is terrible 3-5. I got 3 rage quits once they realized I was going to play Vengeance and Burning over and over again. This is like the 6th iteration. The mechanic is beautiful, A Mission in Essos, Archivist in shadows, Shadow City discards him to draw 2 cards and reshuffle everything back into your now super tight 14-18 cards without ever milling yourself.
I tried it with the Hellholt, I tried it with icon stripping, it just doesn't win. So, if you can figure out the perfect 10 cards to play over and over to ensure victory please let me know! (in the 8 games I actually chose NOT to use the combo once, this is super stable to setup).

It went OK. Definitely need to cycle through plots quicker to get to valars. Next step forward is to pair with Targ for the discard outlets for archivist or try out some glass candles. |
I currently don't own Kings of the Isles. How could I replace Desert Raider and Citadel Archivist? |
Vincent I think this is a combo deck with A Mission in Essos and Citadel Archivist so you need King of the Isles. |
I also tried some variants of this deck and I think it simply doesn't work. You are stretched too thin between characters, economy and events and unfortunately none of the cards really help you win the game. |
Maybe Banner of the Rose with Crown of Golden Roses to discard Citadel Archivist and actually having a stable and defensive creature base could work better than being slowed down by Assault from the Shadows Agenda and using stuff like Lazy Leo could further manipulate the discarded events pre A Mission in Essos.

I think the problem here is that you need to get control of the game and then pull off that combo. But that is basically any Martell deck so I guess the combo is a "win more" kind of deal, because once you got control as Martell it's usually really hard to break anyways. Currently to me it feels like it's lacking a couple of good events to make it more realistic. Maybe a way to fill your discard pile more reliably and then manipulate what stays in there. |

the latest iteration is Poisoned Coin (bad), Tears of Lys (good), and Attainted. Instead of Poisoned Coin substitute Doran's Game and change of plans to see how that goes.
