8Regents2025Stark 3
Hi folks, Odrl here again. :)
I would like to share another deck from the 8 Regents tournament with you. We had quite a few copies of the Fealty agenda to play, and mostly we played a pretty conventional deck with it, basically only deciding between playing the Winter plot line, or the more conventional one with 2x Heir to the Iron Throne. But in the last round against Greyjoy I had the opportunity to play it in a different way, a way which had brought me some success in the past. I was expecting a pretty standard Greyjoy Fealty deck from my opponent, so I thought trying to clear the board aggressively was the way to go.
As you can see, the idea was to play characters that can dominate the challenge, like Robb Stark (AtSK), Greatjon Umber and Alysane Mormont. With 2x A Storm of Swords in the plot deck, two of those characters can naturally participate in multiple challenges, and Robb with The Wolf King on him is pretty much impossible to defend. With claim raise from Winter Is Coming and additional kill effects from Ice (Core) and Put to the Sword, I thought I had a pretty decent chance of killing everything off. And there is Grey Wind (Core) in this one as well, to clear some of the chuds away, which can be pretty brutal if you also use Northern Armory on him.
That was Plan A, but the actual game against Rupert went in a different direction. He played The Conclave with Balon Greyjoy (KotI) in play from the start, so putting any kind of military pressure on seemed to be impossible. And even with Grey Wind there, I could never get in a situation to play a good Marched to the Wall, because my opponent used saves and Drowned God Fanatic really well, so he always kept a really strong board. Maybe Arya Stark (TFM) would have helped here. It was a tough call, but I figured the stealth and the in-built save from Arya Stark (Core) would be more valuable. What I did have, however, was The Crag. I almost took it out, because it wasn't doing much for me in any of the test games, but on the day it proved to be my only real win condition. Maester Murenmure slowed it down a bit (and a Risen on him put him out of Grey Wind range), but it got just enough power to get me over the line before I would most likely get a bad reset. The Crag, and the always reliable Dacey Mormont. :)
My game is not published anywhere, but later in the round Jake Platt played a slightly modified version of this deck to get us over the line against Greyjoy. You can watch that game here: 8 RoW 2025 - Game 7.12
And the best thing is, the deck is still legal after the latest Restricted List. :)
