Top 32 Stahleck 2025 - Driver, not the Car 1.0

After having played Dothrakie SoB in 2024, I was a bit tired of its limitations. It felt like theres Old Bill Bones, Cats and Winterfells everywhere, just as Last Heart Scouts (Thanks to Uniting, they can be found outside of Stark also). So I wanted to have Nightmare. At the same time, Dohtrakies are still the best Targ Archetype and also fun to play. Besides, any serious Deck need MKC, FS and VD or VM. So burn was not an option. FC with Harry seemed cool, but its also harder to pilot and you have to play 8 games in a row. Given I only play Thrones IRL at Stahleck, this is quite challenging for me. So what to play? Albert played Xing in the WC with Dothrakies, so I decided to give it a try. I did quite some changes, I ended up with Version 0.20 compared to Albert's list. I think it doesnt make sense to discuss the changes here, but you might want to compare the decks.

The Deck is basically the normal Dothrakie list but with Xing. Xing means your opponent will make fewer challenges to block your Xing and also you can decided which Challenge you really want to win and give it a str boost. I found it much more flexible than SoB or Prince, where you push yourself to trigger the Agenda.

I'll also make a short Tourney report, but I dont remmeber that much anymore.

Game 1 against Ermengol Coma - win

He Played HRD Starfall with some more heavy icon control. It was a tedious game that went to plot 10 after 55 minutes. I played Xing also to have short games, but...Martell

Game 2 against TheMeeplesChampion - loss

The loss that hurts. He had duped Chef Bob turn 1 which made a hard life for me. Didnt see Pinch to get rid of him. We played till plot 5 or so. He had Delena, Duped Bob and Varys on Board. I went first. I made mil and PTTS Varys. Stupid. If I would have killed Delena, he had to defend my pow with Bob, so he couldnt close with Bob winning Pow on his turn. If I would have killed Delena, he might have used Varys, but then I would have marched Bob. As I was at 13 pow there and had Womb, It would have been my game quite sure. Bad Driver.

Game 3 against afolch - win

Easy game against Tyrell Knights. Some chuds to vanish on first snow, clear the rest on MKC and march the survivor.

Game 4 against Djokovic - win

I dont remember much from this game. He played Bara Summer, but we ended up 15-0. I only remember his kind words at the start and end of the game :)

Game 5 against Haruspex - win

He played Targ FC. I played this matchup many times on TiT and know its hard but doable. At the end, I won because I nightmared his Tyrion so I could clear the board with Overwhleming.

Game 6 against Migule Molines - win

Free Folk. A Very bloody game. At the end of each turn, my board was empty and my hand also. But I could also stitch him a bit as I had womb and he went first each turn. He also had a lack of power icons. I made very good plot chocies and could close thanks to a top-deck of 2 BOMB.

Game 7 against Raius - loss

There we are. 5-1 at Stahleck. Only one win needed for the cut. Playing at Table #3 against our new World Champion. It felt like he had 20 Gold and 10 cards each turn. I was a bit unlucky, but I dont think I could have won this anyway. Great Deck, great player!

Game 8 against Tassos - loss

There we are. 5-2 at Stahleck. When I win, I am in the cut. And then I face my dear friend Tassos. When I saw the pairing, I felt bad. Because he plays burn, because only one of us can make it. Now I understand what people mean when they say "I dont like meeting friends in the cut". It kinda was the cut as we were in kick-out mode. I kept my Hand with a setup of Aggo, Pinch and Plaza. I felt it was good because I could pinch his Dany at some point and maybe force an early Marched. What a stupid decision. What a bad setup. I played super-aggro first two turns, opening with FS and NM his Moon door. But he could dupe his Rhaegal, play Drac, bring OBB out of shadows and leave me with an empty hand, because I decided to loose a lot cards to have Qohollo live with Plaza. OfC he was marched next turn. Stupid. The whole game was like this. I could prolong my pain by making very good nope-throne choices. I really think that the deck was good enough to make the cut with another driver or with more motivation on my side. I was a bit relieved I could stop playing after 8 games. At the end, I didnt have the motivation to win this game. It was great that Tassos had quite a journey after our game, making Top8! So at the end, all was good.
