Only change was that I took out the third copy of Euron for a third of Balon. Placed 2nd at a Winter GNK with a 3-1 record with the only lost to the undefeated champion. There was 11 players.
First round was against a Stark-Tyrell He was able to put out Eddard, Randyll, Margaery, and The Knight of Flowers during the game…but between my 2 claim plots and seastone chair, I was able to control his board and stealth my way to an unopposed victory. 1-0
Second round was against a Targ Fealty This was a brutal one. I was able to play the whole royal family of Pyke but Theon was burned almost as soon as he was out. Balon was milked along with Aeron. Asha couldn’t get an unopposed thru and out of all the times Euron could wiff, he picked this whole match. Wasn’t able to steal a SINGLE location in this game…I put up a good fight but alas the Mad King had an answer to everything I played. He was able to close the game on our 5th plot. Good game, sir! 1-1
Third round was against Targ Lanny I was still pretty shook up by my lost to targ in the last round and here I am facing another targ. I was playing badly, missing triggers of the Great Kraken during the first 3 plots. By the 4th plot, I was chanting DUCK to remind myself. We both had a good board presence but I was a little bit ahead. He flipped a Calm Over Westeros and picked Mil to my Wildfire Assault. Unfortunately for him, I marshalled a Seastone Chair and got rid of his Ser Jorah. Before the 5th plot phase, he conceded and showed me that his hand had 2 copies of Ser Jorah and 3 chuds and only 2 chuds left on the board. I believe I would’ve won on the 5th plot if we played it out since he has used up quite a bit of his economy or I’ve pillaged it away and has yet to play any big characters other than Ser Jorah (I was able to pillage away his Dany). My side of the board had Euron, Balon and Asha. 2-1
Final round was against Targ Stark Man these Targs are everywhere. I dropped a Lordsport Shipwright during my marshalling and it was BEAST this game. I was able to constantly control his economy by kneeling the only Kingsroad he has in play every turn. He didn’t draw into other economy either. He was playing chuds and the dragons mostly. At one point, he Noble Cause and could actually afford the Khal with his Arakh. He was able to control my board the turn after by playing Wildfire Assault and dropping a Vanguard of the North. Between 3 Mil challenges that I COULD NOT win, my board was reduced to a single character…Balon with a throwing axe. At this point, I was at 13 power. To win, I simply needed to go first and stealth the Khal with The Great Kraken. I looked through my plots and dropped Rise of the Kraken as my 6th plot. 8 initiative was enough and I was able to go first and skip my marshaling, not worrying about milk since he had used all of them at this point along with his Dracarys. 3-1
There was no cut. There was a 3 way tie for 2nd place as 3 players had a 3-1 record. I was the only lost of one of the other players I was tied with and that meant I was ranked higher than any of the players I was tied with bringing me to 2nd place.
I honestly don’t see me making any major changes. Maybe +1 Rattleshirt Raiders for that extra chance of drawing him but I don’t know what to take out as everything seems to be working well.
