Travis Snow 3
The meta for most of the games existence has been very focused on winning with a few beefy characters. When First Snow came out it just got worse.
This deck is an attempt to come out of the gates fast and punish small, lean boards with multiple claims. The plot deck is made to be just as aggressive as the main deck.
My initial concern was econ and keeping up pace. The deck currently has 27 loyal cards in it. Most turns will cost one less gold. Events are cheap. Card draw is built in with Blackfish, For the North and Gates of Winterfell. Most aggro decks fall behind because they run out of cards before they can finish and their opponent stabilizes. I was thinking about running Roderick as well but Rob is solid against Bara. I only have 5, 6 cost characters and they are both loyal.
Pushing challenges through is important. I maximized their available stealth and added Syrio and a few Wildling Scouts. I'm on the fence about Nymeria. She may become another copy of Needle. The +2 strength for one is great.
Plots are a bit silly. If you fall behind, your done with this deck likely anyway.
Marched - to punish poor setups and take advantage of board clears when they First Snow.
Naval - It will just break their spirit to live. If you come out fast on turn one, which you should, they will try to stabilize with an Econ plot. If they see Ice they will Confiscate. I've heard the arguments against. It is a plot that can win games by itself.
Sneak Attack - Often turn one. Also a decent finisher.
Winds of Winter - Usually mid game. It's punishing when they have a shallow board. It can also finish in those games where you get Blackfish turned on and a Minstrel on the board.
Wildfire - This is your one "Oh Shit" button. Sometimes things like Night's Watch and Bara can hold off early aggression. The deck isn't devoid of good top end characters. Reset down to three and then beat them with claim.
Wardens of the North - Complicated board states and good events can make math silly.
Filthy - I'm on the fence here. There are times when I just need to kneel one character to win the military challenge to unleash Ice or Winter is Coming.
I have gone back and forth between this and Fortified Position. Leading with it can really impact the gold when Lanni gets the dream out (Tywin and Reducer) You have just taken essentially 3 gold from them. which they were likely counting on when they picked their plot.
Missing in action - No Bran. He doesn't really fit. I would have Hodor if I had Bran. I like the 2 cost body for 4 but with his attack limited, Shaggy dog is better with +1 strength on average for the cost. Hodor being loyal makes it even harder. I didn't want to mess with the fragile Kennel Masters.
Let me know what you think.
