I updated my list that I used two weeks ago at my Regionals (Top 4, 34 players) Except of some minor changes, I added 3 x Drowned God's Blessing.

Aeron Damphair didn't made the cut this time. I love to have him as a threat. But it is quite obvious for my opponents that I will not win dominance and after Iron Mines I feel quite safe having Mines, Risen und dupes. I added a second Syrio Forel because he always helped me, when I saw him. He just works so good with GJ stealth. Together with Longships you can control a big board. If you have problems, just go second and use Wildfire.

I also removed one Great Kraken and added another Reader who is quite awesome. I don't really need stealth on Balon. Balon with Crossing or Iron Fleet Scout or Drowned God's Blessing is enough to get uo in almost every situation (except of Robert with Stanis out or Tywin with a Syrio or so).

If you don't see ur big chars (Balon, Euron, Theon, Asha) you usually have some Drowned Men and Priest of the Drowned God and enough Warships to boost ur Drowned Man up to 7+ STR. They can do alot for you.

I still have 1 x Lordsport Shipwright to kneel Kingsroads etc. and 1 x Newly-Made Lord to eventually discard a Kingsroad for Euron.

Seal of the Hand was meant to help against Bara (worst match up ever) but it turned out to be awesome on your big (stealth) guys!

Confiscationand Counting Coppers are two important cards that can bring you back if you are in trouble. Wildfire Assault is situational, either you want to reset, or if you have enough stealth, to put you into a good position for a Rise of the Kraken. Rise of the Kraken needs a good timing and can give you rather easily up to 8 power.

You usually lose uo challenges yourself, if you haven't enough stealth or Raiding Longships out, don't hesitate to go second... it is situational, but it eventually gives you more uo than if you always go first.

Looking forward to suggestions and critics to improve this list.

I'm really loving the Greyjoys. They were my first love when the game came out and they're starting to be more deadly as packs come out.

With my version of this deck (sans True Steel cards), here are a couple things:

  1. Going in second isn't that bad, opponents will be tempted to thin out their defenses leaving you more capable of maximizing Lords of the Crossing and unopposed challenges.
  2. I save up my "first player" cards for the big turns, like when I have good board presence and played Rise of the Kraken. Eliminates Stealth defenders when you need them and when your opponent thinks they will be able to oppose.
  3. Syrio and Wildling Scouts are great. They ensure you get to play stealth even when main characters have been milked. This saves your Confiscation for other attachments such as Paid Off and Stinking Drunk.
  4. I prefer 2 Great Krakens. The draw or power option is wonderful. Plus, it can be triggered with non-uniqur characters. I've won some games because of the 1 or 2 additional power. A Stealthed Balon is just a Bonus.
  5. The Reader is ok. I maintain 1 copy. Too heavy to marshall. Too restrictive an ability. Too limited an option, the discard is not that great. Chance combination with Euron.
  6. Rarely have I used the Hand's Judgment. I'd keep 1 or 2 for good measure.
  7. I took out my Salty Navigators to give preference over House Maesters. Bicons.
  8. I copied your Lordsport Shipwright and Newly-Made Lord. It slows down the opponent. Newly-Made Lord can also feed Euron. They are there for good measure.
  9. I haven't played with Drowned God's blessing but I'm not too keen about it. Not a lot of cards to maximize the 1 gold cost which could also be used to pay off Brothel Madame or Paid Off.
  10. On that note, always try to keep 1 gold in the pool! I've been botched by these Lannister payments.
  11. Great point about Aeron Damphair, I might replace him with a 3rd House Measter or a 2nd Seastone Chair.
  12. Seal of the Hand was a great idea! Works great with Asha. Devastating with Euron. Phenomenal with Balon. It also givres another target for your opponent's Confiscation, and not your Milk of the Poppy's
  13. Counting Coppers saved me many times. With 6 saving cards and dupes, it helps protect your crew. I'm not yet completely satisfied with Trading with Pentoshi. I am thinking of replacing it with another Calling the Banners or A Noble Cause.

That being said, great great Greyjoy build. My average wins are on turn 3. Never with 2. Sometimes on 4. Never going beyond 5.

Question: How do you play against a Bara kneeling deck?

Like Rihanna said you need to "work work work work" on this.

Thank you for analysing this deck so deeply! I agree with almost everything. I will follow up with some comments:

4 and 5: I kinda agree with both points. I was always very happy with The Reader when I got him and on the other hand Great Kraken often times turned out to be another high cost location while I was waiting to draw a character (preferably with icon). So I wanted to test it this way. But you are completely right with the power grab, etc. so after some playtesting I might change back to 1 Reader and 2 Great Kraken.

  1. I almost never made use of it so I want to cut it and get closer to 60 cards.

  2. Mh, interesting... need to think about that... with the Drowned God's Blessing attachment I have another source for that 1 extra initiative. But I was happy with the Salty Navigator to adjust my cost and icon spread.

  3. I need to rethink that abit. I think this card might be quite strong, but 3 copies is surely over the top.

  4. This is something that I am still considering too. But by now I had a couple of games where Pentoshi after Coppers turned the tides for me. But I usually only play it round (4) 5 and 6... in other words: I don't play it at all because the game is already over.

Bara: With Seal of the Hand + Milk of the Poppy it actually works quite fine for me to play as I would do it against any other house if he hasn't Stannis Baratheon AND Melisandre out. If he gets both of them on the table (in the early game) things start to get complicated... actually I don't have a good strategy against it... Last time I played against Bara he had Robert, Stannis and Melisandre out but Seal and Milk helped me and it was very close. Eventually he won with denying my challenge on my Rise of the Kraken turn with In the Name of Your King!.

I didn't play much during the last week because of holidays and Imperial Assault Regionals, but I should get some playtesting on Thursday (also against a good Bara kneeling deck!)
