This deck went 3-1 to take local tourney in Columbus GA out of a field of 10. Good players all around, and we will miss our Brother of the Watch when he moves out west. Look out, San Francisco meta!
The idea of the deck is a straightforward Crossing deck using Palace Spearman and Knights of the Sun to do the heavy lifting. The Spearman is underrated by most players; bicon/tricon 4 STR for 4 gold is hard to top. The one swerve I put in was deploying House Maester and Maester Caleotte with the Maester's Chain to combat the one solution so many players use to deal with Nymeria - Milk of the Poppy. MVPs were the chains, The Long Plan and In Doran's Name.
Game 1: Targ/Fealty (Charlie): Loss - Charlie flopped a couple dragons and a reducer on the open and one Trading with the Pentoshi later, I was facing Dany and an Unsullied as well. Dany's -1 to participating really does a number on Crossing decks. I never saw Nymeria, and a well timed Blood of the Dragon roasted four of my characters on turn four, it was all over at that point. Even without him drawing a single Dracarys!, he won on round 5.
Game 2: Martell/Crossing (Mike) - I drew Nymeria Sand on turn two and Maester Caleotte on turn three. This is the game where the chains made a huge difference. Unable to shut down Nymeria, I had him in a crossfire his Nymeria couldn't get him out of: he steals from me - I steal from him. I steal from him - he steals from me - I run Caleotte at him and dare him to block. Once my Syrio Forel hit the table on turn four, I had him locked down.
Game 3: Lannister/Crossing (Josh) - Josh got out Cersei Lannister, but I turned claim around on him twice with both of my Vengeance for Elia's and dumped his hand. By turn four, he was top-decking, and the draw off his Counting Coppers didn't help him much. I was able to catch The Hound on the table on turn one and dropped poison on him. Again, Syrio came to the rescue for me allowing pitiful STR to get claims off. Syrio is super effective against Lannister decks with their narrow field if they don't have ambush or stealth left.
Game 4: Lannister/Fealty (Anthony) - On turn one, Anthony played The First Snow of Winter, leaving me with one Knights of the Sun against Cersei. He swung, played Trial by Combat and I played Vengeance for Eliain return, then came across for . It was a risky play that could have worked for him. The next turn I Marched to the Wall to clear the board, with him holding three cards. After that, his back was against the wall for five more turns. Honestly, I think Anthony just got over-excited; he's a better player than this.
