Objective: Power Rush Strategy: Sacrifice, Stealth, Winning by 5 or more for power. It will be rare where you can't do all three challenges. Winterfell is a must early setup if possible. All plots are designed to get you power at the right time.
Switched in Winter Festival and took out a Sneak Attack. Was thinking about running 2x winter festival and taking out a heads on spikes but that free intrigue I seem to always find important.
Switched out a Rattleshirts for a third copy of Ayra's gift. Wasn't having luck against Milks and Martell lovers. I hate Nymeria also as she makes Rattleshirt's useless. She seems popular at the moment so I have to figure other ways for attachment removal, thus Arya's gift, with a much lower cost. Haven't seen a lot of the Hand's Judgement lately so I feel safe with it.
Tournament Report: Three wins, Zero losses.
Game 1: Targ Fealty First game I played Kristian. She's a massive Targ player and I've played her the most out of everyone in my meta so she knew all my tricks. She was playing with a newer experimental deck.
Turn 1: I played calm, she played a two claim plot, The Long Winter of Winds of Winter. I reduced claim to one. It was a slow and methodical game as I played cautiously as I knew she likes to play burn decks. I managed to keep her board low on characters and milked Mirri(I believe, could have been drogo).
Turn 2 and 3: I power rushed when she had no dragons out and the following turn I did the same thing with no gold and a knelt faction card to bump up in power quickly and seal victory.
Game 2: Tyrell Kings of Summer. This was a crazy game. I don't have a ton of experience playing against Tyrell. Every time a card came out I got a little anxious. There were a lot of high gold plots in his deck and he got Queen of thorns out early which allowed him to build up quite a large board. I Wildfired around turn 3 and I managed to milk her shortly after at a pivotal moment. He got rid of the milk the next turn but it may have been enough for me to run away with it. I had Fat Cat out from round 1 and finally managed to get some power on her to nullify his Queen of Thorn attacks. I managed an unopposed power attack with Fat Cat and played a superior claim and a winter is coming. He was able to recover his board quickly with the high gold plots but with stealth and Fast Eddy there was no coming back. I ended up sacrificing a character with Jon Snow to win with Fat Cat.
Game 3 Final: Lannister Fealty This was a rematch between Bill and I from the last tournament. I was wiped out from OD'ing on caffeine that day and had made some terrible mistakes including a math error that put me at 14 power instead of 15. Bill went on to win that tourny.
In this game I opened with Calm to his Summer plot...I think it was a Song of Summer. I went second, duped Tywin came out early in the game and I milked him. Fat Cat was the real MVP for me this game. She was out early and was racking up power quickly. I had the perfect board state with Jon Snow, Robb Stark, Fat Cat, Bran, and Fast Eddy. His Tywin had a bodyguard and two dupes so the only way forward was through power. I lost Jon snow but I managed to get high up in power with two superior claims in two turns. I was sitting at 13 power but my board had started to evaporate. I couldn't defend from his Tywin that had 100 gold behind him and I was knelt out mostly. He did a military which killed a Hodor and put me at 14. I stood everyone back up with Robb but he treachery'd that move...allowing me to sacrifice Bran and give Fat Cat a power for 15. One more round and I think it would have swung the other way!
It was a fun tournament and we have a growing group of player in Vegas that play on Fridays. Hopefully it continues and more fun can be had! Thanks to Matt Zelus for putting the tournament together and for everyone I played against!.
