Some users were asking me to post my Bara Deck so here it is.

I've been playing Bara since release and played them at 2 regionals in the states placing in the top 16. I find Control decks are my play style so I wanted to play Bara at Nationals. In play testing I could not beat Kevin Austin's or Rob St Johns Lanni Dragon Deck so I was really questioning if I should even run Bara. I don't think theres much wrong with the deck other than character count which was very prevalent in my last match against John Gobeil when I couldn't get any chuds to sacrifice to the Mountain.

In Swiss I played a great variety of decks which was relieving because I feared being paired up against Lanni Dragon all day. my only loss was to meta mate Kyle Duncan's Lanni Dragon. (Which I believe was Recorded).

My MVP cards of the day were Varys Riddle (hit 7/8) Counting Coppers and Ours is the Fury.

Game 1: Stark Fealty (Felix) Win

All I remember from this game is that he had Blackfish out on setup and I setup a red keep and some chuds. I GOT Stannis out early and kind of halted the game. Vanguard lancers were good at pulling power off blackfish and I focused on hand control. Once I used wildfire I got Bob out and closed the game. I was nervous about Stark Fealty because their a good counter to bara with Rob and Jon Snow, fortunately he didn't see them and I was able kneel like crazy.

Game 2: Martell Wolf (Carl) Win

I hit his summer harvest with Varys Riddle and that pretty much brought the game to a halt. I got Stannis out again and the red keep and just had superior card draw and economy until I could close with Bob again. Pretty similar to last game I waited to wildfire to make is board manageable played my kneel cards and won a bunch of unopposed. he didn't see ghaston or any notable characters just the armies which really limited his rush potential.

Game 3: Targ Summer (Francis) Win

Seeing summer I assumed he was going to open Harvest. I hit it with Varys Riddle again giving me a turn to gain momentum. He had Jhogo out from setup and I knew he would be a problem late game. There was one interesting play that I didn't see coming where he played waking the dragon on duped and poppied Dany to stand her to block an unopposed challenge and I did military afterward to clear the dupe so he couldn't save her. He popped her back to hand. He played Dany again the next turn with viserys I waited to poppy her again aggressively playing wildfire to kill him (Making my board very susceptible to military claim). then playing poppy on her again. By the time he got a decent board I was too far ahead in the game and when he got Mirri and Drogo out I had played Selmy which sealed the game for me.

Game 4: Lanni Dragon (Kyle) Loss

One of my meta mates and one of my worst matchups me and Kyle played a warmup game before hand and I Varys Riddled his Summer Harvest which pretty much won me the game. So going into this Match he Knew most of my secret tech which was what gave me the upper hand in the match. It was a very close game where he played around ours is the fury very well and kept taking Initiative so I couldn't kneel with bob. It was a tight game but Mirri killed stannis and lost me the game.

Game 5: Greyjoy Dragon (Nick) Win

Knowing that Bara is favoured in the Greyjoy matchup I was feeling pretty good setting up stannis shireen and Roseroad. He set up Illyrio and that worried me a lot. I know how strong Illyrio can be in Lannie Dragon I was just hoping that he couldn't get enough gold to use him efficiently. I didn't think his deck would run summer harvest but I opened with Varys Riddle anyways Because I could still play mel and a poppy if I need to plus winning initiative is nice. He opened Noble so it was my first miss of the day but It didn't really hurt since my own noble wouldn't have helped much. This consisted of a lot of kneeling and back and forth unopposed challenges. Memorable moment from the game I played Trading into his First snow turn and played bob and managed to sit on 6 gold to play 2 Even handed Justices on my characters that were getting bounced hitting his balon and asha. He then did a big military and because I didn't want to claim any of my good characters I beat it with Bob and Stannis. He then did an Intrigue with illyrio and I used ours is the fury on bob. winning the challenge andstanding him for my own turn. That play Won me the game next plot when I played wildfire and got more kneel cards.

Game 6: Bara Fealty (Kyle) Win

being 4-1 I felt like my SOS was strong enough to carry me into top 16 but I wanted to get one more win to close out the day. I knew a mirror match would not be fun and would come down to luck of the draw. I had the best setup I had all day with Selmy chud and Stone drum. He had cressen red keep and Bastard. I played varys riddle opener again just in case and hit his summons which let me pull mel and play her first turn. I then played Seen in Flames and plucked his bob from his hand. The game snowballed in my favour with my eventually getting my red keep and bob and stannis out. The memorable moment of this game was I went in for a heavy military challenge forgetting his own selmy was knelt. He played Nightmares on bob cancelling my intimidate and Light bringer reaction. which bought him one more turn. Stannis made the game very hard for him to get challenges through and I think I played Ours is the fury On bob and won the game from him getting in 2 more challenges. It was well played and I know that it could have very well been me that got the short end of the stick on the game.

Going 5-1 in swiss was unbelievable to me with so many great players from our own meta not making the cut and a lot of good Quebec players I some how managed to go 5-1. It was awesome to see the top 3 spots filled with your meta mates. I was incredible nervous for Top 16 and My goal was just to get top 8 so I could get the mat.

At the end of the day we knew who are opponents were going to be and I was playing Carter Sorenson's Lanni Rose. Being apart of our meta I knew he was a good player but I felt Confident in the matchup. unfortunately 2 of the top 16 were from Out east and drove with a car full and were leaving that night. Only one of the guys stayed buying a plane ticket to get home. SO since a player dropped the standings were changed and I was playing Carl (Martel Wolf) Again.

Top 16 - Martell Wolf (Carl) Win

I didn't want to face Carl until later in the cut because I knew his deck countered Lanni Dragon and wanted him to thin the herd. Unfortunately for him he had to play me again. He set up Eddy chud and kings road. I set up City watch Cressen and Roseroad. I think we sat there for 10 minutes but it felt like 30 picking our first plots. I was trying to remember his plots from the day before and I couldn't remember if he was running Trading or not. I thought I needed to hit his summer harvest again if I want to snowball this game out. Once we picked our plots I played Varys into his Summer harvest. He managed to get out arya after I played red keep and Focused heavily on keeping it knelt. I luckily top decked chamber and iron throne and JUst preceeded to win dominance. I played a poppy on eddard which slowed him down a lot and he played Nymeria. He had ghaston grey out on plot 2 and I had Bob. He was sitting on one gold and I also only had one gold to give bob the intrigue Icon. I was first player and he didn't used Nymeria. I knew he could have stolen bobs intrigue and won and if he had tears kill bob. I was debating really hard to use bob into his ghaston so that if he didn;t use it I knew he had tears and I could kneel Nymeria but if he did It would get rid of it and save bob. I did another challenge instead and he still hadn't used Nymeria. I had no idea what he was going to do. He did a small intrigue challenge with a green blood and I blocked it with bob getting some renown. I think he was saving nymeria so that he could get an unopposed power challenge through. At one point he had Selmy and Bob condemned and Imprisoned. He confiscated the poppy on eddard and I replayed another one on Nymeria. I used even handed Justice on edd and selmy so I could stand him with military claim. He did a power challenge with the remaining renown characters and I used ours is the fury on selmy to win it and keep the red keep standing for the first time. I then used to selmy to see if hed bounce him back with ghaston which he did and he removed bobs intrigue icon so I couldn't get an unopposed intrigue on him. I played wildfire into his marched The board was Eddard Knight of the sun and Arianne to my Bob Mel and Selmy. I played seen in flames to pluck his Aero and knelt eddard which won me the game.

Top 8 Lanni Dragon (John Gobeil) Loss

Not much to say on this game other than it was a bloody massacre. I over thought My opening hand seeing the pieces I needed to beat Lanni Dragon but having a real shit Setup. I didn't draw into any chuds and Mountain went to town. It was by far my worst game of Game of thrones and I was misplaying left and right. I don't know if it was nerves getting to me or John Gobeil's intimidating Face of Death =). I've played Gobeil a lot either in Conquest or Thrones and it's usually a good game where he ultimately wins =P. But that game was just horrible and I apologize to the people watching the stream and seeing misplays and rule mistakes. John Gobeil is a great opponent and I look forward to our next encounter so we can play a decent game =P.

It was a great weekend and real experience for me to be able to place in top 4 and make top 8 in the finals. Unfortunately Kevin and Kyle also lost in the top 8 so we had no one from the Hamilton meta to root for. Sorry for all the spelling mistakes and poor grammar I suck at write ups. I hope some Bara players find some cool choices they can take and implement into their own decks.
