Well, hello again! I'm here posting yet another Lannister/Rose deck. But... This one made Top 16 at the Canadian Nationals! So let's dive in on the day, and then overall thoughts!
Round 1. Targ Summer
First round of the day! I was nervous as heck, but I survived. This was a heated match with my opponent! He was drawing left and right as I sat waiting for the draw phase desperately. He was gaining lots of Econ with the agenda, so he overruled me in this match. There were no obvious play mistakes I made, but I do think the tremendous amount of econ and cards he had overruled me so he got this one
Result: Loss
Round 2. Martell Summer
Yet another Summer agenda. This game was different though. I was able to setup tywin and a chud, keeping myself safe from the march. With tywin on the board, he was able to defend any challenge, overall winning with amount of renown collected on my characters.
Result: Win
Round 3. Stark Fealty.
This game was long. It was the 'new' style of stark that seems to be floating around with king rob, fat cat, and the hosts. Our game was tight throughout all plots. If he went first he would get closer to the win, then I would get to go and get closer to the win, eventually time was called and I beat him by one power. He gave me the full win and we went on with our day.
Result: Win
Round 4. Lannister Dragon.
Three rounds and I slithered through most of the lanni players, until I ended up playing a good friend Alfredo. In this match again, we both setup the dream tywin and chud. I flipped calm over westeros and was able to get the mountain out, who was the sole reason I won the game.
Result: Win.
Round 5. Targ Lion.
This game was the purpose of the deck. I setup with tywin, and was able to get all the pieces out in our game. I got randyll and kof who collected lots of renown. I got the mountain and jaime who killed on military challenges. Then I got tyrion and twyin defending and winning intrigues. I was able to pull it out right before I had to play wf.
Result: Win
Round 6. Lanni Dragon
We were in the final round of swiss. I was at the second table so I was feeling confident. I was able to setup Randyll and two chuds. But, my opponent was able to beat me to the race to get tywin. Tywin was milked twice, but never succeeded. He was able to beat the race to 15.
Result: Loss.
After swiss I was feeling anxious if I made it or not. Once the list was posted I came in at 14th seed. So I made the cut. On to the next day.
Round 7. Lannister Dragon
This was intense, we both setup tywin and a chud. I was able to get tyrion out, who eventually tears'd his mountain. We were back and forth until our second last plot. I needed two power to win, so I flipped Winter festival, but he had TWO summer harvests which screwed my plan up. He was able to get the boy king and ser ilyn payne going. I made one fatal error, which cost me the game. I marshaled the hound with the intent for him to die so I could marshal margaery, but I forgot about Ilyrio who was able to stand him up right after. The was the game mistake.
Result: Loss.
At least I did lose to the Canadian National Winner, Eh? All in all I found the deck performed exceptional. I do see the downside of wildfire in a big guys deck, but wf did help alot. Thanks for reading cya!
