"What the kraken grasps it does not lose, be it longship or leviathan."
This is the deck I took to a local tournament in Portland, Oregon on Worlds Weekend, and went 5-1 with it for the day. The brutal loss was to a very military-focused Lannister/Kings of Summer deck.
With the Lions of Casterly Rock box just released, Victarion Greyjoy immediately struck me as something I wanted to try out alongside Robert Baratheon, due the built-in self-save and the Intimidate. I also wanted to experiment with Disputed Claim, especially when played on Asha Greyjoyor Melisandre. Edric Storm seemed to have synergy with the aggressive playstyle of Baratheon/Kraken, and could help with keeping Disputed Claim active.
Time of Plenty also seemed like a great plot for Baratheon. Baratheon tends to be more concerned with drawing Melisandre, Robert Baratheon, R'hllor cards, and #The Red Keep than with what their opponents draw. The 6g and 7 reserve also looked very nice.
My main concern going into building this deck was affording Victarion. My previous versions of this deck had Asha as the highest-cost Greyjoy characters, while this one was going to have 5g Asha and 6g Victarion. I decided to go with the 6x-reducer option, but it took some tough sacrifices to fit the Iron Islands Fishmongers in there. Three slots for Victarion ended up costing six slots in total, as I had to drop Moon Boy, Littlefinger, and a second copy of Theon Greyjoy.
Trading with the Pentoshi was there to help with affording Victarion and Barristan, but the 3g given to the opponent proved to be a liability, with the exception of my Top 4 match against Night's Watch. There, I wasn't concerned with what he marshalled, while I really wanted to get Robert Baratheon and Asha on the table as soon as I could. The plot deck could use a little bit of tweaking.
I chose Here to Serve over Confiscation because I have discovered that in the matches where I really want attachment removal, I need repeatable attachment removal for dealing with Milk of the Poppy, Craven, Imprisoned, and Condemned. And if I had already drawn Maester Cressen, I could fall back on Maester Wendamyr and his valuable Stealth keyword.
Going forward, I would like to play with the number of Fishmongers and economy in the locations and plots. I might try to squeeze in a The Stone Drum or a Littlefinger. I am looking at swapping Trading with the Pentoshi for a Calling the Banners or A Song of Summer. With only 1x Barristan, A Noble Cause takes care of marshalling the big characters.
So, if you want to play a more aggressive Baratheon than the dominance-focused Fealty and Summer styles, and you want to play with some save effects going into a game with Valar Morghulis, give the Kraken a try!

Congrats on another win with my favourite deck! :D |
You mean "Lannistered"? ; ) |
I always like seeing your reports. Bara Kraken is a deck I love to come back to every once in a while and I like seeing your success. Now that you've had a chance to think about it, any more thought on the plot deck? |
Can I ask, why the lordsport ship wright? what combo or control am I missing? |

Nice review. Thanks. What are your impressions of Disputed Claim in your deck?
