This is the deck I played in our first 2.0 local tournament (Newfoundland, Canada). I am fairly new to the game, been playing for a couple of months now. I just started playing Tyrell over the last couple of weeks, starting with Knights (banner Lion). That was okay, but I wasn't satisfied so I decided to try to optimize the Arbor by playing Tyrell/Winter (Green Christmas). That was fun, but was too dependent on the Arbor. So the night before the tournament I went back to the drawing board (probably not the optimal time to deck build but I wasn't satisfied). I hadn't tried the Crown of Golden Roses yet, so I wanted to try that. I also hadn't tried Rain's of Castamere yet and I wanted to try that. So it was settled.

I'm not well versed in the art of Deck descriptions so I will keep it short-ish. When I was building the deck I never thought to use Varys. However, after discovering the Green Manalishi and the insistence that Varys was the key Cog in his very similar deck, I thought, "what the heck" and put in two copies. I can attest to that statement. I triggered Vary's in 2 out of 4 games. I won both of those games. In my final round of swiss, against Targ, Varys was Milked, then in the next round (after Confiscating the Milk) he received a Crown of Gold. If I had been able to trigger Varys, I think I could have won that game, but that was fairly early so anything could have happened. I lost due to time in the first round of eliminations to a Night's Watch deck after a Wall Trigger in the final round (lost 11-10). He stalled King Randyll with Craven twice, who was once again running Rampant in between Cravens. I think I could have pulled it off if there was no time limit as I had control of board state, it just took me too long to get to that point. He did have Benjen on the board though, so with him close to 15 power I had to be careful.

At the end of the day, I went 2-1, defeating Bara Summer and Greyjoy Fealty, losing to Targ Summer. Then lost to Night's Watch Fealty in eliminations. I had a great time with this deck and I'll definitely stick with it for awhile. If I could go back, I think I would put in 1 or 2 Offer of a Peach, there were many times when I wanted to Trigger Highgarden multiple times in a round and for some reason I was able to get Renly on the board every single game (fairly early every time), so the Peach would have helped there. So my plan is to try that out, just not sure what i'm going to cut yet. We shall see what happens.

Thanks for the writeup!

How did Fallen From Favor work out for you generally? Seems like it took the place of Unexpected Delay in the Manalishi deck? I could see it backfiring though if the board gets too small and all you have are your best characters out so I'm curious how you found it.

@NastyJackNo problem!

When I first made the deck, I put together a plot deck that I am familiar with. It wasn't until after, when I seen the Manalishi deck (and was inspired by it heavily in many ways), that I read his description of how useful Unexpected Delay was for him. The tournament was the following day, though, so I didn't have any time to play test. I have never played Unexpected Delay and wanted a plot deck that I kind of knew (aside from the Rains part) so I stuck with my plots.

I'm actually a big fan of Fallen from Favor. It's high gold, high initiative. You have control over the sacrifice, and it has never come back to bite me (I'm sure someday it will :P). I triggered it two out of four games in our tournament, both times on Garden Caretakers. In the past I have found it useful for sacrificing a milked character if I have another copy in hand that I want to play 'drug-free'.
