Rules FAQ

  • The ability affects characters controlled by all players, including the controller of Milkwater Crossing.

  • Milkwater Crossing will trigger after forced reactions to a phase beginning, so after The First Snow of Winter or The Mad King's Command.

  • If an effect causes a card to lose "all" of a given attribute (such as keywords, traits, or faction affiliations), that card loses each instance of each of those attributes. For instance, if an effect causes a character to "lose all keywords," that character will have no keywords (even if another effect would cause it to have multiple instances of a given keyword). (See The Word "All".)

  • Only characters that are in play at the time Milkwater Crossing is triggered are affected by its lasting effect. Characters that enter play later will still have their keywords (and can gain additional ones).

  • Keywords include no attachments, which means a character with no attachment can take attachments during the phase where Milkwater Crossing was triggered. When the phase ends, those attachments will become illegally attached and will be discarded from play. However, if one of those attachments is Milk of the Poppy, the no attachments keyword remains permanently blanked.

  • An immunity is any ability that specifically uses that word (for instance, the constant ability of Craster). Phrases like "cannot be killed" that appear on some abilities are not considered to be immunities.

  • If a character is immune to cards effects (or location effects), it is unaffected by Milkwater Crossing and will keep its keywords.

  • Since Milkwater Crossing is non-unique, you can trigger multiple copies in the same reaction window (for instance, if the first one is canceled).

  • The lasting effect expires in the U step of the W.U.A. (when, until, at) sequence. A character that has lost its immunity will already have it back during delayed effects that happen "at the end of the phase".
