Rules FAQ

  • You cannot play Retribution if the character is saved.

  • You compare the number of characters after claim has already been applied.

  • If multiple characters are killed for claim, you can play multiple copies of Retribution. But you have to compare the number of characters before each one you play.

  • If a claim replacement ability is used, a character is not killed "for claim", unless that specific phrase is used. In other words, Trial by Combat would work, but The Seastone Chair would not. If a character is killed to satisfy claim outside of a challenge (for instance, with A Toast to the King), Retribution cannot be played, because there is no attacking player.

  • An attacking character is a character participating in the challenge on the attacker's side.
