Reinier 1
I am new to the game. This is the first deck I've built, with only cards from the core set, and the sets in the Westeros cycle (so basically putting myself 3 or 4 years back in time). In first instance aimed at playing with my friends who play under similar restrictions.
The (probably naive) idea of the deck is to be very strong on the intrigue challenges, doing multiple where possible (Casterly Rock) and maximizing the benefits of initiating (Tyrion Lannister (Core)) and winning (Cersei Lannister (Core), Small Council Chamber, Lannisport, Trial by Combat) them. At the same time, I hope the deck has a decent basic of military and and power icons to be able to defend reasonably well.
Advice obviously welcome!

Also I would drop the 2 Lannisport Moneylenders. They are just bad and not worth the slot. Try adding some The Kingsroads instead to round up your economy. |
Thanks both! I agree that The Iron Throne is a bit out-of-character in this deck that doesn't focus on dominance. On the other hand, it seems to have incredible value for money (a full 8 STR for dominance for 2 gold - I think that in decks that do focus on dominance, I would include it even if it were just 5 or 6 STR). In this deck, 1 copy might suffice though. That also make space for The Kingsroad or Wildling Scout in the Fealty agenda. The main reason for including The Tickler and the Lannisport Moneylender is to have sufficient low-cost characters in the deck. In fact, for me The Tickler seems quite a good value-for-money with 2 strength and 2 icons for 2 cost - even if I found I rarely use his dominance action. I am indeed less happy with the Lannisport Moneylender, where the limited keyword is more restricted than I had thought. Any thoughts on whether leaving these cards out and replacing by more copies of expensive cards does not make the deck too top-heavy? In any case, I am back to the drawing board. Thanks for the input! |
With 3 copies of Burned Men, Red Cloaks and Lannisport Merchant you're good to go with low cost characters. The problem with 3 copies of The Tickler is that he is unique and sometimes you have to choose him for claim and you're stuck with dead cards in your deck. 1 copy of him is just enough. Also with your card pool Tywin Lannister (Core) is absolutely the best card around and you should always run him 3x. |
Off the bat I would say you don't need three copies of The Tickler. That would drop you down to 60 cards which is good.
With Lanny decks, your main win condition isn't dominance. So, I would drop at least one copy of The Iron Throne if not both. Along with this, your main win condition is usually based on Gregor and intrigue wins. With this in mind I would up the copies of Tyrion Lannister (Core) and Ser Gregor Clegane (TKP) to three.
Tywin Lannister (Core) was and still is an amazing card. I would also include three copies of him as well.
There's my two cents.
