Went to my 1st ever AGOT Store Championship (23 players BD Cosmos in Laval) over the week-end. Although I spent a lot of time working on some Lannister decks while preparing…I decided to take my good old Targ/Fealty deck as I was very comfortable with it. Well, I went 4-1 during the swiss netting me 4th place, so I guess it was a good call. 1- Stark/Kraken (W) 2- Bara/NW (W) 3- Bara/Fealty (W) (My Buddy Guillaume B.) 4- Targ/Rose (L) 5- Lanni/Rose (W)

My only loss was to an expertly played Targ/Rose, played by Matt from Ottawa (he went 5-0 during swiss). With this deck I was ready for all match-ups except one…the Mirror Dany vs Dany…funny how if you don’t practice that match-up the math can get really frustrating. The cut for this event was top 4 and I made the cut…unfortunately for me, that meant a re-match against Matt & his Targ/Rose deck. This time, the game wasn’t even close and quickly I was stuck in a situation where I was loosing every challenge. So I didn’t make the final but really had a Blast during the whole day!

My thoughts on the deck: Removing Calling the Banners and The Winds of Winter was a great adjustment. I was surprised how much I got outta Sneak Attack and a good Summons nets you a card which is awesome for a deck without much draw (outside of Daenerys Targaryen). I was also pleased to have replaced 2 Tears of Lys ( I originally had 3) for 2 Put to the Sword. Both cards came in handy as it became hard to protect from/predict both cards. A new modification I would do to the deck is replacing 2 Seal of the Hand with 2 Bodyguard. Seal is a great card and it can win you games, however I always found the gold went towards other cards plus Dany & Drogo are constant targets I believe every save helps. For my plot deck, I guess I could find a way to add to the deck Rattleshirt’s Raiders and a 3rd Viserys Targaryen to remove Confiscation. I never really needed Wildfire Assault except for the 2 games I played against Targ (as I never really got board control), so possibly Counting Coppers is the right addition this deck does need more draw when trailing…
