I was looking for a Lannister list hat would fit my playstyle for an upcoming SC and stumbled upon this beauty by '@cml': http://thronesdb.com/decklist/view/2506/the-only-game-that-matters-3rd-sc-manchester-ct-1.0

This is a control deck first and foremost, control the board, nuke their hand and Varys away. It is slow and playing catchup games most of the time.

After many changes and testing I mostly came back to the original list, the only changes were -1 Grand Maester Pycelle, +1 Bastard Daughter and -1 Supporting the Faith, +1 Calling the Banners. The plot really shines in a Varys deck.

Really happy with where the list is, Wardens of the West is a flex slot and doesn't get triggered often because of the high cost (without Tyrion Lannister) but it is still 5 gold with 4 initiative. Could be replaced with something else.

16 players SC, 4 rounds of Swiss and cut to Top 4

1. I won vs Targ Rose (He couldn't recover fast enough after Varys)

2. I lost vs Stark Fealty (Like Warm Rain on Tyrion Lannister turn one when I could've played around it. Pretty one sided game)

3. I won vs Targ Fealty (Ran into a Dracarys! with Nymeria Sand and Cersei Lannister (he killed Cersei) to be able to Tears the Khal Drogohe just played. Later on I popped Varys leaving me with Tywin Lannister on board and him with nothing. He had already used Marched to the Wall and I didn't expect a second one.)

4. I won vs Bara Watch in the closest match I had all day. The winner was gonna make the cut. (Had Tywin Lannister on setup but didn't get to use him once (2x Filthy Accusations + Melisandre+ Milk of the Poppy) I Tears of Lys Stannis Baratheonon turn one. Later on I aggressively popped #Varys when I had the advantage on the board but his board was getting quite large and he was grabbing power quite fast. This left me with Nymeria Sand against nothing and a much bigger hand then his. He later played Benjen Stark and someone else but chose not to kill him as military claim (correctly) expecting Treachery. I even had to The Things I Do For Love Maester Cressen back to his hand as he was gonna get an unnoposed power challenge through that would have taken him to 13 or 14 power. Great great game.)

I ended up in 4th position, barely making the cut at 3-1. Another 3-1 ended 5th and that kinda sucked (sorry Carl).

Top 4

Playing against my buddy Guillaume whom I playtest with usually but we hadn't played those decks with one another. He got King of Swiss as the only 4-0 player with a Greyjoy Fealty deck.

The game ran up kinda weird has I was the one putting the military pressure on him. I even Marched to the Wall on turn 2 or 3 with him having to chose between Theon Greyjoy and The Reader. Afterwards my use of Nymeria Sand was key to preventing unnoposed challenges as I was waiting for him to make his moves before removing the possibility of Stealth for his next challenge. It also helped that he didn't see any Raiding Longship nor Balon Greyjoy. Convincing victory but I wasn't glad to kick him out of the tournament. Next time buddy!

Final

Facing @istaril in my first SC final was kinda nerve racking. Oh yeah, he also beat me quite convincingly in round 2 with his Stark Fealty deck.

Long story short, I setup 2x Casterly Rock, Grand Maester Pycelle, Brothel Madame and The Roseroad vs no intrigue icon. Played Tyrion Lannister on turn one and Lannisport on turn 2 and proceded to nuke his hand while drawing (approximately) a million card because he played no intrigue icon for the whole game. A turn 4 Varys left me with Nymeria Sand and Tyrion Lannister vs Eddard Stark and Arya Stark but his hand was empty and I had 2x Tywin Lannister plus chuds in hand to seal the deal.

2nd lifetime SC and my first win, pretty hyped about it and loving this game.
