Won a very very small Regional in Copenhagen. 10 players.

Overall comment of the deck composition; I was aiming for control and reset and accruing power slowly while wearing down the opponents options through combination of Varys, The First Snow of Winter,Nymeria Sand,Ghaston Grey,Milk of the Poppy and adding the element of uncertainty in the challenges phase with the characters that can ambush into the challenges and Arianne Martell, Vengeance for Elia and His Viper Eyes is there to provide protection against undesirable situations and get you out of tight situations.

Plot choices I made a decision to take the risk of running plot that had a high impact if played right but a relative low income, so I was depending on getting economy cards in play as soon as possible. I cannot recommend to do so as two my losses was mainly lost due to no economy showed up most of the game. So I recommend to have at least two plots that can set your lynchpin card in play, without economy cards in play you´re going to dig a hole that can be very hard get out of.

How is it played The actual play experience is that the deck is very solid and can sustain some punishment and is flexible enough to adapt to the various situation that arises during play. It usually creates some very close matches where you feel that you're mostly in control of the game but punishing you for your mistakes. So it's highly suspenseful and probably also a high skill-level deck (A lot of this could probably be fixed in changing the deck build. :D).

Anyway on to the short tournament report The result can be found in the annals

As you can see I didn't have stellar performance, lost two of my games that day and entered into the 5 game of swiss with a 2-2-0, I was sure that qualifying to top 4 was impossible before the 5th match. To my surprise I was called as the 4th placed player and onto the top 4, which was satisfying but I was sure that there was some mistakes in the calculation so I asked the TO to double check the results, which he did and confirmed that there was no mistakes.

The tale of defeat, the struggle and the rise of phoenix

Round 1 Bye Due to me winning the local SC with this Martell/Rose deck I got to relax and playing a test game with my meta mate that also got a Bye.

Round 2 The Greyjoy/Fealty loss Got paired up with one the meta best player, who have been very consistent with his Greyjoy deck. So I was looking forward to the match, since I enjoy the challenge of hard fought games. It was a game where Varys (played with Kingsroad, one of the two economy card I got in that game)cleared the board round 1 and I got rid of Euron, Balon, Asha, two chuds, while I gave up Nymeria and a greenblood trader. I misplayed the first round and played tears on the duped Asha in order to get rid of her, forgetting that my plan was to play marched turn 2. Stupid mistakes which probably gave away my win.

A couple of rounds with very few characters in play, due to Varys and that we kept killing each others chuds. What sealed the deal was a lone Balon that attacked unopposed for 2 turns. Game over. We agreed that if I had just seen one more economy card I would have won the game.

Round 3 Baratheon/Rose Win Big props for my opponent showing up with a deck combination that we don't see often in the competitive environment.

Anyway again only one economy card showed up; Blood orange grooves. Which allowed me to stay in the game and got me a solid win, I picked his his Knight of flowers with His Viper Eyes turn 1, and then every intrigue challenge I won removed all his key pieces from his hand. Not much to talk about, other than this was the fastest win I made with this deck, won in round 6.

Round 4 Greyjoy/Dragon loss Paired up with a great player, that just outplayed me. Nothing much to say, The deck worked for me, but He got a lot of answers to my play and by round 7 it was over.

Round 5 Lannister/Dragon Win At this point I was certain that top 4 was out of reach. But decided that I am going to play the hell out of this game and played for the win, just for a small consolidation prize. Anyway, it started of looking very very bleak, facing Tywin, reducer, roseroad. vs my Ser Jaime, Greenblood trader and roseroad.

Highlights:

Turn 1 He played Wardens of the west, dead intent on emptying my hand. I flipped the long plan. He start with playing Cersei, the tickler and Casterly Rock. 2 gold left. Help! I played Nymeria and a chud, some clever play from my side left me with only one lost intrigue challenge from The tickler, but a put to the sword challenges that killed Ser Jaime.

Turn 3 or 4 Facing Tywin, Gregor, Ser Jaime Tickler and 3 chuds it was looking bleak for me. He go first and marshall cards so he has only 1 gold left, he is on 13 power.

I marshal Varys! Nymeria is in play plus one chud and I have a handful of cards. Vengeance of Elia on a power challenges prevent a loss. End of turn 3, he ends on 13 power, Varys hit. the standing is 9-4 in favour of him.

Then I just slowly start to win and keep his board minimal and hand empty. Then time got called out only 10 minutes left of the match, I am getting worried about if can make a win in time to avoid a mod win. Well I made it to a win, kind of easy when there are two rounds with zero character facing your 4 characters.

Top 4 Baratheon/Sun Win He got his key pieces out to late in the game, allowed me to slowly but surely taking the win.

Final Greyjoy/Fealty Win Rematch. :D This game I saw economy card and was not facing Balon and Euron. It was a drawn out fight of through no less than 10 plots, but it was never super tight, I got my control element in place quickly, a game where 3 ghaston grey entered and left play, seastone chair was in play turn 2 but never ever did anything, Great Kraken as well, but again never did anything because every challenges Greyjoy issued was opposed by ambush, Nymeria and stuff that Arianne does. A well played match that ended 15-7, no really bad draw from either sides, more or less mediocre.

Would you add in Tyene? If so what would you drop for her?

@major rawne I would for sure add Tyene, but that would come with a rather substantial remake of the list, which is work in progress. Promise I'll upload a list that I am confident in. But in this list it would be 1 Tears and 1 Varys.
