Aggressive Character Control
Basic Strategy: Keep your opponents characters at a minimum and gain power with your renown characters. Military challenges are very important, always keep pressure on your opponent. Kill and remove as many characters as you can with Ice, Tears of Lys, Winter Is Coming, Marched to the Wall.
Specific Cards:
- Ward is such a strong card and it is not only good for 3 and 4 gold characters. I often just ward claim soak to make my (2-claim) military challenges count and then march next turn.
- The First Snow of Winter helps get the claim soak off the board. Then you should definitely go first and use some kill effects(Ice, Winter Is Coming, Tears of Lys) on top of your military claim. Then March next turn.
- 2x Marched to the Wall is a suprise, is good after The First Snow of Winter, is good after big military challenges, reduces the opponents board. I feel like it has so many uses, especially in an aggressive deck, that having it 2 times is very good. Always good: March a warded character before Confiscation gets rid of Ward.
- Winterfell = awesome card.
- Wildling Scout helps with intrigue and provides stealth for important challenges.
- Winterfell Crypt is good for setups and can get rid of claim soak(after Bran Stark is sacrificed) or gets rid of something big if the opponent kills one of your big guys.
- Eddard Stark, Robb Stark, The Blackfish are there to collect power with renown. Robb and Blackfish have awesome effects on top of renown.
- Winter Is Coming helps in every situation, most of the time of course in military challenges, but later in the game a 2-claim power challenge can help alot. Also being able to pay for it with Fealty is a big plus.
- Milk of the Poppy is Milk of the Poppy, but also baits out a Confiscation so you can just keep a warded character, or keeps your Ice protected.
Regional Tournament: We were only 10 players, but it was a fun tournament with good players. I went 6-0.
- Baratheon Fealty - Won
- Nightswatch Fealty - Won
- Lannister Wolf - Won
- Nightswatch Fealty - Won
- Semi Finale: Lannister Wolf - Won
- Finale: Baratheon Fealty - Won
The deck is alot of fun to play and has no automatic-loose match-ups. Any questions? Feel free to ask.

So far the deck worked good as it is. Gates of Winterfell or The Blackfish turn up most of the games. And to get Robb Stark and Maester Luwin out is not as uncommon as you might think. Plus since the cards that you "loose" like events or Ice and Ward always take something from your opponents board, you normally end up with more or at least better characters than your opponent . Maybe a third Gates of Winterfell can make sense if you actually loose games because you draw less than your opponent. Summons is a plot I would like to include, but I feel that I really need all the plots I have to put pressure on my opponent every turn. |
How do you deal with the lack of draw?
