Rules FAQ

  • The ability affects all players, including the controller of Slaver's Bay.

  • A character is considered to be participating in the challenge as an attacker after step 4.2, which means immediately after the challenge is initiated. If the character's STR is 0 at that point, it is killed immediately. Passive modifiers like The Lord of the Crossing or Dragonglass Dagger will already be active, but reactions to the challenge being initiated (like Frey Lordling) or reactions to a character being knelt (like Brother's Robes) would happen after Slaver's Bay has already killed the character. Stealth and assault happen as part of initiating the challenge, so those can always be used in time. The same timing applies for declaring defenders (in step 4.2.1).

  • You cannot save from a terminal condition unless the save effect also remedies that condition (for instance, Risen from the Sea bringing the character's STR to 1, or Hagen's Daughter removing herself from play).

  • If Storm's End (BtB) is used, Slaver's Bay will first apply for the original challenge type and kill every character with STR 0 (before Storm's End can even be used), and then for the challenge as well.

  • A character that cannot be killed or leave play will stay in play with STR 0. This can happen with cards like Balerion, The Crone or Summerhall (FtR), among others.
